  1. We had a similar problem with the AZ DMV folks many years ago. Well two problems, they don't know their jobs and they lie. That said you should be able to register your MDT in AZ with no issues and no commercial driver's license. If you try it in an emissions area (not sure about Yuma but Phoenix is) be prepared to pay what I recall was a high testing fee.
  2. We have many fond memories of folks that have helped us and others that we have helped, something we treasure and always will. Thanks for the kind words.
  3. I'm glad I was able to help others, I was given a lot of assistance that got me started and saved me from many expensive errors and was trying to pass it on.
  4. This is likely to be my last post on this topic but I think it is an important one to end on. The survey below clearly shows that most of the VA workers are no happier with the VA than our veterans are. Their dissatisfaction with corrupt and incompetent management gives us a clear idea of what needs to change in the VA system. I have some hope that it may happen but fighting the civil service old-boys network and patronage system is one tough row to hoe. http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-investigations/2017/01/04/phoenix-va-hospital-employee-survey/95975966/
  5. Thanks for all the kind thoughts, folks here and the club gave us far more than we got from them and it will always be appreciated.
  6. Trudy and I had a good run but it is time to move on. We came off the road from full-timing about 10 years ago to help raise a grandkid and settled down in Phoenix to do that. We'd always hoped to get back to RV living when he started school but a second grandkid came along and we got another couple years of delay. While that was going on our health deteriorated to the point that we can't really even consider weekend RVing. We aren't going to die any time soon but we both have issues that really limits what we can do. I'll be keeping this forum account but stepping down as a weekend moderator since I won't be visiting as often.
  7. If using liquid antifreeze in the holding tanks you might want to go with concentrate instead of pre-mixed, that would take less volume to get the same level of protection. https://smile.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=concentrate+RV++antifreeze
  8. I don't do much with Yahoo but if they are files and not e-mails there should be a download option, all I have is a Yahoo Groups account there and it offers downloads of files the group has uploaded. You should be able to download attachments to e-mails too, I helped mom save some photos off her account that way a couple years back. For e-mail bodies copy/paste might work but with 400 plus that is going to get old fast. Something I do not know if Yahoo offers is POP mail program access, if they do you can use a mail program like Thunderbird to download all your e-mails to your PC at once. Hopefully a Yahoo expert will have some better info.
  9. Generic Miralax can be fairly cheap in an emergency, ordering the powder/liquid is cheaper if you have time. As Barb suggested don't add too much, just a small amount and add more as you add water. https://smile.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_2?rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Apolyethylene+glycol&page=2&keywords=polyethylene+glycol&ie=UTF8&qid=1481949026&spIA=B00KDOT734,B00RC2FHPW
  10. Anything saved as an e-mail you can just forward to a new account.
  11. Leaks like this are why you should always use different passwords for each website. I try to avoid giving them information they don't really need. I also keep track of the secret question for each site and the answer I gave to it. I never give a real answer, First car? Pickle, Born? Stalingrad, Mother's maiden name? Rhubarb.
  12. Can't see pictures at either link.
  13. If you copy/paste into the forum it tries and usually fails to get the same formatting that you had in the program you are copying from. Two ways to avoid that, easy is when you paste use your right-click menu to "paste without formatting" or "paste as plain text" if your browser offers that. The second way is to use the little toggle icon above the "B" bold formatting button to switch the forum to plain text mode before you paste, switch it back on after pasting.
  14. We looked at Las Vegas many years back, a bit expensive and emissions testing ruled it out. Not sure about Reno's test status or some of the smaller towns away from the metro areas but I'd check before you decide.

    HDT in Arizona

It has been years so this may be dated but my MDT required an emissions test on a regular basis in the Phoenix area, it was rather expensive. Plate tax on the MDT was painful too but it goes down as your truck is older. We moved to SD with the truck expense as the primary reason, we were also happy to avoid the high AZ sales tax on a new fiver and the AZ income tax. We had been living with that for several years, the truck cost to keep it in AZ broke the camel's back and we moved. Texas would have been a better option than SD aside from a non-RV related legal issue we had. The DMV lied to me too, I had carefully checked and documented exactly who told me what and confirmed it with the DMV supervisor. Went out of state to pick the truck up, got the paperwork done exactly as instructed and when we got back they decided that they had been wrong and I owed a LOT more tax.
  16. A old style converter won't get you to a full charge in a reasonable time, it never puts out enough voltage. The battery charger is likely designed for starting batteries and won't be getting you to a completely full state in your deep cycle batteries, but it is likely coming closer than the converter. Give them enough time to do as much good as they can and call it good for now. When you are ready to upgrade a lot of folks have had converter replacement discussions here on the various brands.
  17. If you haven't been to the Chapters 28 and 39 rallies in Q you really should go, we used to host that rally for Chapter 39 and it was great fun. Plomosa Road is a great, easy access and very level site with room for lots of RVs.
  18. Depending on the inverter brand and model it may draw a small amount of power when turned off, usually only a few milliamps that powers the power-on circuitry. What basic converter do you have? Some can be upgraded (adding a charge wizard device) cheaply to provide much better charging, others can't and you might want to think about upgrading. A modern converter with a charge wizard type setup will manage and preserve your batteries much better than an older converter and it will provide far more charging current. Don't go too big on the ratings for the new converter as your maximum safe charge rate of the GC batteries could be exceeded. Using multiple dumb chargers together works fairly well but if you have a smart one in the mix it will be confused by the additional charge sources and may switch modes at the wrong charge levels.
  19. Only good news here is at least it wasn't Phoenix again. http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/12/11/report-va-hospital-left-dead-body-shower-9-hours/
  20. Another story shows that the Phoenix suicide care issues are improving in response to the whistle-blowers talking to the press. http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-investigations/2016/12/06/report-verifies-phoenix-va-suicide-care-issue/95020682/
  21. We got a star for our Phoenix quality of service. Please don't think about the other four stars we missed out on. Phoenix veterans hospital gets VA's worst ranking http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-investigations/2016/12/07/phoenix-veterans-hospital-gets-worst-va-ranking/95051764/ Tucson got two stars, still not good but better than Phoenix if you are in the area this winter and are looking for care. They have the whole list of VA hospitals at the link.
  22. Resist the temptation to cast onto someone taking a nap! It will not end well.
  23. Might be budget cuts, the SU-30 is cheaper than an F-35 and a tiny bit prettier than an A-10. ;-)
  24. If you are at risk you may want to contact them instead of waiting for them to find you as you travel. http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/12/01/veterans-wisconsin-va-hospital-may-infected-hepatitis-hiv/
