  1. We arrived in Retama Village at about 3:30 Wednesday afternoon. The day before Dale and Mark Bruss got here. So we have only been here two full days so far and are already having so much fun. And keeping so busy. We bike ride with the group at 8:00 every morning and go to happy hour every afternoon at 4:00. Craft time this coming Monday morning at 9:00 and water aerobics begins Monday afternoon at 2:00 and will continue every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (probably, we will decide for sure after we meet on Monday.) We tried out the pool and hot tub this afternoon and they are wonderful! Even our dog, "Trip" is glad to be "home!" First thing out of the truck she had to roll in the grass and she loves to say "good morning" to Jim's dog "Trash" every day. Tomorrow morning, at least four of us are going on the "Hogs for Hunger" motorcycle ride with the Harley Davidson Shop. They said they would forgive us who don't own a Harley. Looking forward to seeing Pat and Mike and Jack and Danielle here. We have never been in Retama at the same time as them. See you all soon. Sue McCarron
  2. Thank you all for the birthday wishes. We are currently in California so for on my birthday, I was able to drive up to see my 86-year old mother who lives about 90 miles from where we are staying. My little sister joined us there and I rarely get to see her so that made it really special. She lives about 120 miles from my mother so it was quite a drive for her for so short a visit. Then on the weekend my two kids and all my grandkids were together for a party for me. It was nice. We are staying on Travis AFB in Fairfield, California just a couple of miles from our son's house. We leave here and start our trip to Retama next Monday, October 27. We have to bring a small U-Haul van with us to transport our woodworking machinery for the little shop we are building in our coach house. Don't know now long it will take to get there but its a long way from here - 2000 miles. Should be there by the 15th at least. Thanks again for the birthday wishes. Sue McCarron
  3. Hey Dave and Renee We just drove the length of Flathead Lake yesterday. (North to South). We are now in Jim's and Mary's RV Park on Highway 93 in Missouls, Montana. Will be here until Monday, August 8. If you are in the area, look for us. David and Sue McCarron Blue Volvo 770 with Teton
  4. Guess I should have waited a day before I posted my message. We are not sweltering anymore. It only got up to 68 degrees in Libby, Montana, today. We drove up to Troy and hiked down to the Kootenai Falls. Took lots of pictures, it rained on us while we were hiking. So the sky in all the photos will be very dark. But beautiful sights.
  5. We are in sweltering Libby, Montana, where it is 102 degrees. We are in River Country where the movies "A River Runs Through It", "The River Wild" and one other (I forget its name) were filmed. We hope it cools off a little so that when we ride our motorcycles up to the Kootenai Falls it won't be so hot. It is actually supposed to rain on Wednesday. We loved Hope, Idaho, which was our last stop of seven days. We were right on Lake Pend Orielle which is supposedly the third largest lake in the U.S. It was so clean and we swam in it several times. Also had several great motorcyle rides while there - one to the Cabinet Gorge Dam with its fantastic views. David and Sue (and Trip)
  6. Arrived at Fairchild AFB Family Camp this afternoon. Will be here for 7 days and then on to Hope, Idaho. Had a great week at Sun Lakes State Park near Coulee City, Washington. The weather was perfect and we were able to swim in the lake several times. Played a game of miniature golf one night. David beat me by 16 points. Yikes. We hope to go explore Spokane on our motorcycles tomorrow. Looks like they have a wonderful park on a river in downtown Spokane. David and Sue McCarron
  7. We are in Hoodsport, Washington. We have been here one week and will be here one more week. Went clamming and oystering one day and got our limit. We steamed the clams and fried the oysters. They were delicious - so fresh. Another day we had a beautiful motorcycle ride into the mountains to Lake Cushman. Next move (on Monday the 21st) is to Blaine, Washington, which is even farther north up by the border of Canada. The weather has been absolutely perfect where we are and we are so glad to have escaped the smoke-filled skies of California just in time. The Nolans and Barrs are not far away and may stop by on their way north next week. If anyone is in the area and wants to stop by, we are at the Rest A While campground just north of Hoodsport.
  8. We had a wonderful four days in the Medford, Oregon, area with our son and daughter-in-law. They followed us up from Vacaville, California, on their motorcycles. We went on the jet boat excursion in Grants Pass which was awesome. Also went to the Oregon Vortex and down to Ashland for lunch. All this on our motorcycles through the beautiful Oregon countryside. Scott and Barb Nolan and Mike and Nancy Barr were at the same campground with us in Medford so after our son and his wife left, we caravanned out to the West Coast RV Rally with them. We left that group on Monday and went our own way and are currently on Netarts Bay in the Tillamook, Oregon, area. It is beautiful here. The dog and I (Sue) enjoyed a long run on the beach yesterday. Today is a little cool but we are spending any extra time in the house trying to learn our new "Apple" computers. On to Hoodsport, Washington, on Monday. We will be there for 14 days. 9. Mike, As normal, everything takes longer, I haven't finished the work I want to get done on the rig so we're going to stay at Davis-Monthan AFB til Tuesday the 19th. When we get together again we'll all have to go out for a "ride". Sue has just told me that "once we get started" we'll be in Mission in 8 days. Ah! what a "NavaGoddess". Later -
  10. We're in Davis-Monthan AFB and planning on leaving this Friday for Mission. We should be there within a couple of weeks. Looking forward to seeing you, the Village, and the area.
  11. Just arrived in Quartzsite today. We will be here until Monday (Jan 29) morning. Anyone else in Quartzsite? After that and a stop in Tucson, on to Mission, Texas. David and Sue McCarron
  12. We are on Travis AFB in Fairfield, California, where we will stay until the middle of January. The kids and grandkids all live nearby so we are here for the holidays. Plus doing Doctors, dentist and lots of chores. Having a cabinet shop nearby make us an island cabinet that will also be a table to replace the round table that came with the Teton. That table no longer works for us since we have the bench built in the diningroom slide out. We are excited about it and think that it will give us even more space. Merry Christmas David and Sue McCarron
  13. Thank you all for the birthday wishes. The weather was nice that day in Kilgore, Texas, so went on a motorcycle ride and had some wonderful barbecued ribs for lunch at the Country Tavern. Pat and Mike McFall came by for a visit on Thursday while we were still at the Shallow Creek Campground in Kilgore. So nice to see them again. We are currently in Dallas where the Volvo is getting a new paint job. The weather changed drastically overnight. It was very humid and in the mid 80's on Sunday but on Monday is was pouring and never got above 53 degrees. Wow. Sue McCarron
  14. We are in Kilgore, Texas, waiting to get our truck back from Herrin Welding. Had some repairs done to the bed. He should be done by Friday. We will leave here on Sunday. Then on to Dallas where we have an appointment to have the whole truck painted. Pretty exciting! Big storm here in Kilgore today. Lost electricity for a while. David and Sue McCarron Blue Volvo 770
  15. We are in Des Moines, IA, for a week. We ended up spending a total of 24 days in Custer, South Dakota. It was that beautiful and we really enjoyed all the visits we had with Mike and Pat McFall and all the others that joined us on their property including Roger and Susan Haddix and Brad and Cindy Tihinen. We will be at Blasi in Wichita on 9/26. After Wichita, we have an appointment with Larry Herrin in Kilgore, Texas, to have some repairs done on the truck bed. Then we will go to Dallas to have the entire truck painted. We look forward to seeing all of you in Wichita. David and Sue McCarron Volvo 770 (HisNibs)
