I received a note from the park ranger, volunteer coordinator at Lavon Lake asking me to post this. If you have any questions about this position or any positions there, feel free to drop me a note as we have volunteered at this lake 4 years and know Curry Murphy quite well.

Lake Lavon - Lakeland Primitive Camping Park

Dates: April 1, 2012 - October 2012



Opportunity Description:

Opening gates at 6:00 a.m. and closing gates at 10:00 p.m. Volunteer must be available at least two hours each day for registering campers and visitors, maintaining campground status reports, reservation reports, user fee collection reports, posting campsite reservations, providing general information to the public and informing guests of rules and regulations.



On holiday weekends (Thurs-Mon) must be available for at least 4 hours each day and remain on site.

On regular weekends (Fri-Sun) volunteers must remain on site unless other arrangements are made in advance.

Volunteer will be provided a full hook-up site.

Special Skills Needed: Positive attitude and outgoing personalities along with a desire to work as part of a team to reach our goals and "Make A Difference".

Additional information/Requirements: Volunteer gate attendants may be required to collect money, bonding may be required and a two person team.

I will be interested in October, but not now. We should have a new grand child in September and will be returning to the DFW area for a few months to see the new little one after Alaska.

I hope I can get Lake Lewisville or Hickory Creek, but Lavon is 3rd.

Lavon was a neat volunteer gig for me back in 2007-2008. The opportunity sounds fair too. I know they would have a hard time justifying hiring a contracted gate keeper for something like that.
