If the above truck has the 4:30 diff I beleive it is OK for 17K and more. I would question the pin weight but do not have enough informtion on the truck to determine. The pin weight can be over 3700lbs. But need to know the GVWR of the truck and the carry capacity of the truck???

Need to know the GVWR and The carry capacity of the truck which should be stated on the door sticker. The real Carry capacity would be the GVWR of the truck less the real weight of the truck ready to tow. That will determine the actual pin weight the ruck can handle.

Example the GVWR of my truck is 13K.The stated Carry capacity is 4268lbs however the truck weighs 9200 lbs ready to tow..13000 less 9200 = 3800lbs so I have 3800lbs left for pin weight since pin weigh IS part of Carry capacity.

I would probably be over on pin weight and we are over on tow capacity of 17K with a 4:10 diff. That would be too much 5th wheel for my 08 ford.

Fifth wheel GVWR for the truck = 18,300#

Bed weight rating = 5,300#

Trailer weighs about 13,500# unloaded. About 25% pin weight = 3,400#

As a fulltimer, I carried about 3,000#. Thus trailer weighed about 16,500#.

Truck weighs 8,700# with two passengers and hitch. Combined weight rating = 26,000#.

Thus fully loaded as a fulltimer, I always weighed in at less than the GCWR, usually about 1,000# under.

Thanks for asking.
