Could any of you share which roadside assistance program you have? I have always had AAA (lock keys out of my car often!) but now with RV and car, is that a good one.

Good Sam? others? please advise. Kathy

One thing to keep in mind regarding AAA, is that they operate as semi-independent regional organizations, each with its own feature set and rules. Not all regions offer RV coverage, and it may be difficult to get appropriate service in a an area that does not provide that service to its own members.

I've been very pleased with the services I've received from Coach-Net over the past few years. In 2010 alone two breakdowns required towing, with a total cost of over $700, and not a dime out of my pocket. Both of those incidents required several days wait for parts, and Coach-Net was very helpful in finding a campground and having us towed there and back to the repair shop when parts were available, at no extra cost to us. We paid for the campground of course. A previous incident when we had Good Sam's ERS a few years back, left us sitting in front of a rural repair shop over a three day weekend, with nothing but a 20 amp outlet to plug into. At that time, we had a mini-Class C and no toad, so we were effectively stranded until the shop opened. Good Sam changes call center contractors every few years, so the quality of the service is subject to change without notice. At the time we had them, they were using Cross-Country's call center, then they switched to Road America for three years, and this year they're using Allstate Motor Club as their provider. Coach-Net on the other hand, is the call center provider, so you always know who will be answering the phones. Coach-Net's plans cover your RV and any personal use vehicles you own, rent, or even borrow. I believe GS now includes the same coverage in at least one of their plans. Compare the features of the plans you're interested in carefully, and see which one best fits your needs.

X2 on coach-net. We had AAA Kansas and the sales people told me I was covered with their RV Plus coverage. Because of things I heard on forums I called the assistance number and both the operator and a supervisor told me that because my rig was over 30' long if I broke down they would leave my 5th wheel by the side of the road and only tow my PU. Dropped them then and there and went with Coach-net.

Ditto on CoachNet. I had used camping world / gmc previously. Tows took for ever to arrive. First time I had a problem with CoachNet they were quick, precise and simplified the problem. I won't go with another.

Coachnet. I like that the first thing they ask is if you are in a safe place and they don't penalize you for doing something stupid. We were in a rest area with a dead battery on the toad because we had not pulled the fuse nor driven the car when stopped the night before. They came right out and jumped the battery so we were on our way in no time.

Howdy!

We had Good Sam ERS for several years. We had a break down on the Alaskan HWY in the Yukon and had to be towed. GS ERS refused to pay stating we had not called to get authorization even though we had no public service to contact them. We now have CoachNet but have not used them.

I've had Good Sam for several years and have had to use them several times with nothing but very good service. Our latest experience was on our way to the RGV and the truck broke down. They took care of everything, getting us a place in a campground down the road , having the 5er towed to the CG,and towed the truck to a repair facility. Service with them has been great.

Coachnet. Two years ago my ABS light went on after driving out of Yosemite. I called the tech number asked a couple of questions, they asked me if I thought the coach was still safe to drive I said yes but if it changed I would advise. They set me up with a service center and when I got there someone came right out got the coach and checked to make sure the brakes were in good working order. Turned out to be a sensor problem was fixed and back on the road in the time it took us to get lunch and walk the dogs.
Very happy with them.

We have had Good Sam's ERS for over 10 years. We have used it 4 times. Three for the RV (truck and 5er) and one for a flat tire on DW's car. I will never be without it. Prior to that we had AAA. It is not the best for RVing. The towing alone paid for membership.

If you haven't used your Good Sam ERS plan this year, you have not experienced the service from their current contractor.

Glad you who have good service from GS.
We didn't.
Pulled in a lot to turn around. Rain. Soft Clay with gravel over it. Got stuck.
Called GS. Off the road, sorry not covered.
I had towing service with State Farm but you have to find a tow service when needed. The only reason I had GS to avoid that.
Finally found a tow truck. The operator said he did work for GS and there was no reason they should have refused me.
After a discussion with GS, they paid me for my expenses.
OK, a bad experience.
blew a tire in New Mexico. Called for a tire truck.
I had a spare but it wasn't mounted. The guy arrived but didn't have a jack. No problem I can jack it with my leveling jacks.
Then he had no tools to change the tire. No problem I have the tools and I even helped him change the tire.
Then he wanted a fee that was twice the normal charge to change the tire. I refused to pay it. He was going to remove the tire. Not with my tools I told him.
He finally settled for a normal fee.
That is my experience.
2 out of 2 and out.
Coach Net for me from now on.

I have been happy with Allstate RV Roadhelp since April 1994 when I switched to it from Good Sam.
It comes with a Free KOA 10% discount card every year.

If you pull a cargo trailer behind your MH.
Be sure to get the Coach Net higher price package if you break down and need towed. ;)
