We broke down backing into a site on Sunday, called Coachnet and wanted to talk to a techy regarding our truck problem(transmission died). They told us techy's were for the 5th wheel, not the truck, and the techy's did not know anything about MDT's. I asked if they had techy's for motor homes and they said yes. I asked to talk to them and was refused since I didn't have a motorhome. I pointed out the a motor home and the truck had the same transmission(had transmission problems). Coachnet still refused went back to 5th wheel only. I will call our insurance agent today to vent my frustration.

See other topic regarding Deer Valley Diesel.

Don't know how the Coachnet call centers work... but most places work off a prepared 'script'. If your question or problem falls outside what is written then they get confused, some take a know-it-all attitude and dig in. Best thing to do when that happens is hang up and call again, phrase your question a little different and hopefully get the help you need.

We ended up calling Deer Valley diesel and had a tow truck within the hour. We unhitched our truck and he towed it down the street. He then had a 5th wheel hitch on the tow truck and moved our rig into its site and patiently waited until we put 2 boards under the tires and backed in again. Great Service!!!

We just went over to where we were towed to and found out this towing company has a 15 year relationship with Deer Valley Diesel, no wonder we had great service!!! The service was Western Towing, 623-516-1813.

My 2 cents - and I know I'll get flamed..

I've had MH and 5ths. Had a new MH, got about 10 miles from the dealer and overheated. Seems a radiator hose burst. Called Coach Net and was refused help because the coach is new, and under factory warranty.

I called the dealer, and he sent a wrecker out. He was astounded. He would have got the job from Coach Net too.

Anyway, my last 5th was a HR on LIPPERT running gear. I praised Lippert here last year, but I was embarrassed to come back say that all the "good work" they did, failed not more than 200 miles from their factory.

When the first wheel fell off the 5th, a LIPPERT dung axle, I called my current service - Good Sams. They had a service man out within an hour. The best he could do was chain the axle, but we didn't get far, because the coach was bouncing on the remaining wheel on that side. We pulled over and left the trailer in a parking lot. Call Good Sam again, and to the rescue.

My 5th was a 40' HR. The serviceman told GS that a "landoll" flatbed would be needed to move the trailer to a garage.

Well, they're not east to come by in my area.

But GS worked, and worked. Took them a week, but they found one available in Connecticut. The day after they made the arrangements, the trailer was in the garage.

So, I guess you know where my money is going.

One last thing, they, GS, couldn't do enough. The GS tech, not a operator, kept me updated until the repairs were made. I don't think you can ask for anything more than that.

Forget Coach Net. I wasted my money with them. 1 call, and they refused.

You know you hear good and bad abut all the road services. We are having a run of bad luck and have need road service 3 times in the last 2 years, for 30 years before that we never used road service.

My frustration with Coachnet is their attitude and there lack of a network for "big rigs". Each time we called them it took hours to get a truck to us, they were good about calling back but just don't have enough contracts with "big rig' tow trucks.

We were 10 miles from Amarillo and they couldn't find a ruck to tow us. Ha! When we got to Amarillo there were big rig tow trucks all over the place.

Coachnet comes with our policy so I don't know about being able to drop them. I just hope we go back to normal and don't need them again.

I just sent in our tow bill for reimbursement and we will see what happens.

I assuming your talking about either a extended warranty, or your insurance policy.

You should definitely spend the extra $$, and try Good Sams. I definitely can't complain. You'll find the xtra $$ is well spent.

Back in the mid 90's, my first MH, a Bounder by Fleetwood, lost all power coming out of Essex tolls on the NJ Turnpike. The turnpike uses contracted services, so they towed me to a local A&P parking lot. I contacted GS, and told them where we were. They wanted to make sure we were safe and sound, etc.

The next morning, I got a call from them, asking where I wanted the rig repaired. There was a Ford dealer close by.

However, living in Cape May County, I wanted something fairly close, that I know can handle trucks - tractors, etc.

The only one I new down my way, was Holman Ford, in Maple Shade/Pennsauken - about 90 miles from where I was.

No problem, they sent a truck, the drive disconnected the drive shafts, and started the tow. The truck took a good 6 hrs to get there, because he wasn't allowed to use the Turnpike or Garden State Parkway, because of the size of the truck and MH.

He had to head over to Route 130 and go from there.

No problem from GS, and no out of pocket expenses for the tow.

So, It was and is worth it to me.

I don't know about Coach Net, but Good Sam covers ANY vehicle your drive, although I doubt commercial vehicles.

I just think their attitude, like you said, and their lack of knowledge, which we expect under these policies, is far from anything near poor.

I know there is good and bad in every service, mfg, etc, but as you've found out on the forums, there's more bad than good being said.

That should tell you something right there.

Be sure Coach Net is not an addition to your insurance policy. Many insurance co.s have a tow service they offer for a nominal fee and is presented by the agent in such a way a person thinks the service is part of the policy. If the service is an additional charge it can be canceled.

Even if Coach Net does come with your policy, you may want to add a different service. Having a tow service that is useless as a part of a policy is having no tow service at all.

I have National Interstate Insurance and their tow service for an additional fee from Miller Insurance and have been very satisfied with the service I have received....two tows to a dealer.
