The Consumer Reports monthly Recall List says Honda CRV's from 2007-2010 (and other Honda's) need a software fix to theautomatic transmission to avoid the transmissin getting "stuck" when rapidly shifting between Reverse, Neutral and Drive. Following is the Consumer Reports item:
Honda is recalling approximately 1.5 million vehicles in the United States, including the 2005 to 2010 four-cylinder Accord, 2007 to 2010 CR-V, and 2005 to 2008 Honda Element. The recall also includes 135,142 Honda vehicles in Canada and 760,000 in China. The automatic transmission secondary shaft bearing can be damaged if a driver quickly shifts between Reverse, Neutral, and Drive, as may be done to dislodge a vehicle stuck in mud or snow. If the bearing is damaged, the engine can stall or it may be difficult to engage the parking gear.
To address the issue, Honda will update the software that controls the automatic transmission. The update for affected vehicles will ease the transition between gears to reduce the possibility of damage. No injuries or deaths have been reported in relation to this recall.
Owners can take their vehicles to an authorized Honda dealer, once customer notification begins on August 31. For more information visit www.recalls.honda.com or call 800-999-1009, and select option 4.

Hank,
Thank you for taking time to post this. A lot of RVers tow the Honda CR-V so this is timely.

You don't often hear of a recall involving Honda.
