Styles of Full-Timing
I’ve been thinking about this and can only come up with Three basic Styles of Full-Time RVers. Now I know some RVers drift from one style to another a little. My question is, “Are there any other Styles I’m missing then these three below?” 1) Travel year round from place to place following the weather and their interests. 2) Work Campers going from one gig to another, spending at least 2 months at a gig. 3) Taking up residents in an RV Park Full Time. Either staying in one Park year round or moving between two or three Parks. What am I missing? -------------------- Mike (& Lori)

I don't think we fit any of the 3 you have listed.
We are full timers, we own an internet business and exhibit at trade show across the country. we stop and visit clients as we travel. We also like NHRA drag racing so we attend a few races each year. in between that we visit friends and family. -------------------- |

OH, of coarse. We have some Full-Time friends that work 32 weekends a year at Antique Shows. They have several locations worked out for easy cost saving places to stay in between shows.
So we have 4 Styles of Full-Time RVers. 1) Travel year round from place to place following the weather and their interests. 2) Work Campers going from one gig to another, spending at least 2 months at a gig. 3) Taking up residents in an RV Park Full Time. Either staying in one Park year round or moving between two or three Parks. 4) Working at short term gigs then traveling to next. What else? We are all of the above, over the years. This year we seem to be group one, more than the others, but last year we were group 3, year before group 4, and occasionally group 2.

Possibly one more, We sit for 6 months, travel for 6 months. That sounds to me like #3 half a year, then #1 the other size months. -------------------- Mike (& Lori)

The first question is, What is the definition of a full-timer? We own a S&B. So far this year, we have stayed there for 5 days while we picked up so things we wanted to take with us. Later this year we are planning of staying there for 4 or 5 weeks while we do things like get teeth cleaned, visit the doctor, leave stuff we wanted to have with us this summer and get stuff we want this coming winter, etc. That will be all the time we stay there this year. We have shut off all mail to our S&B; everything goes to our SKPs address. Are we full-timers?

I am not the Full-Time police, but from my side of the keyboard, I would say yes.

We often tell people that we are most-timers. I guess my point is that someone can be a full-timer while still maintaining a S&B and actually living there once in a while.
And of your 3 categories, we are definitely #1. When we stay somewhere for much longer than a month (and often even less), we get itchy feet. -------------------- Robert

I am not getting into this. I don't understand your post Rich!!! If you didn't want to get into this then why even reply? This remark was pretty much uncalled for the way I read it. But then again, maybe I am out of line. Dave -------------------- Dave & Linda

A while back I asked for a definition of a full timer and made the mistake of stating what I thought a full timer was. I always understood a full timer to be one who lived in the RV 24/7/365 and had no stick home or any other permanate residence. I got beat up pretty bad on that one, Some folks here are sensitive on that subject.I saw another beating coming. BTW we are not full timers as we have a S&B and enjoy everything about having one. We are long timers. 6 months in warm weather then 6 months out of our home base on road trips here and there. We are fortunate enough to enjoy the best of both life styles. Full timing is a fine life style but but there are others.
I will have to remember never again to comment on any thing that remotely involves the subject of full timing. There seems to be among some full timers on this forum a stigma attached to having a stick home. -------------------- Helen and I are long timers ..08 F-350 Ford,LB,CC,6.4L,4X4, Dually,4:10 diff dragging around a 06 Montana 3400

We too are not fulltimers and do have a All brick house wich we love as much as our MH that we use as much as we can. We love the Rv lifestyle but we don't want to put a lable in front of our level of rving. -------------------- Did you see that?!?

I don't really care if the label "full-timer" applies to us or not. I just don't think full-timers need to be in their RV 24/7/365. For example, last winter we were on the Texas gulf coast. We flew to New Orleans to spend 4 nights seeing the city. If the label "full-timer" applied to us, I don't think going to NO would have ended that label. I personally think full-timer is a state of mind. If someone spends enough time in their RV to think of it as their home, then the label probably applies. JMHO.

For the purpose of this Thread, I am just looking for “Styles” of Full-Timing. I really don’t care if you own a house, rent a house, or have sold your house.
Just when you Full-Time, what is your Day-to-Day, Week-to-Week, Month-to-Month, Style (do you work, travel, sit, have a goal, theme... What turns your crank?) Since you can go where ever you want, Do what ever you want, Sit or Move; what do you do. I would call richfaa a seasonal Full-Timer. -------------------- Mike (& Lori)

I think you are going to find it really difficult to break it down into styles. We would be mostly #1 but will be staying in Tucson for 4 months, which would be #3 and we also do several 3 week stints a year, donating our time to Nomads. Or is that much changing really all #1?? So that makes the categorizing difficult.

Rich... I now understand your reply. I also understand what you are saying. Right now I have lived in my fiver since May 15 this year. Staying in the same place in northern Mi. In the fall we will start our trip to the south. Where we will end is anybody's guess. I still do own a stick and brick home but my daughter is living there at this time. We really have no intention of returning to that house other than to get rid of some unwanted items. So I guess we are a little of #1 and #3.
