thanks all.

4 stroke engine for the Cummins.
Not sure of power. A 4 valve high block 6-71 is about 235HP.
Isn't the Crown a mid engine laid on its side?

I can't add much other than I love the look of those old Crowns, and to wish you good luck in getting it!

(I believe not all Crowns were mid-engine.)

There are some crowns on www.skoolie.net, they could tell you a good deal about your skoolie.

I loved the driver's left foot rest on the Crowns. The little Cummins would pull like the proverbable "little engine that could". Many gassers were built for the school districts as well. Not only that. . . they rode as well as an MCI without the air ride. Crowns rule in my never to be humble opinion. I don't know where they're manufactured today. . . but "back in the day" (meaning the 1960s), they had a plant in downtown Los Angeles. As always, oRV
