biggrin.gif Greetings all! the house sold and here we are in beautiful Arizona at a adult park in Quartzite. We decided to stay a month and attended the first get together at the clubhouse. We smiled and participated and never really felt like we were going to fit in. No one asked us our name or tried to welcome us. We interacted several times but feel like there is a click how do you fit in without being overly friendly. these folks have known each other for years and seem so nice and down home. We are somewhat younger but this shouldn't be the issue we are over 55. Some advice would be appreciated for those more experienced. We just want to fit in. Thanks for listening!!

Vicky, pets can be a great way to start a conversation! Even if you don't have yours, most people are flattered if you comment on theirs and will also stop. That is a very good point!

Shauna, one of the friends we met from the class of 07 has a wooden dog. He barks, is very loyal, the only thing he's afraid of is fire, he is a good conversation starter and you don't have to clean up after him. rolleyes.gif If you get lost going to the desert bar and wind up in Oklahoma, look us up. tongue.gif Steve & Carol

Thanks for the tip on the wooden dog !!! I like that idea hee hee. We have moved to a new park after a month in Q we felt like the residents were warming up to us, but have quickly learned how different each park can be. We had just stepped out of our motor home here and several people greeted us invited us to play pool, sign up for quilting just sooo friendly, boy what a difference. We will be here in Yuma 3 months and then ??? That's the beauty of full timing we have many roads we can take for our next adventure.

We had a great dinner with Julie and Mike they are a great couple gave us "newbies" wonderful advice felt like we knew them all our lives. Hope to meet up with them again! Thanks for all the great advice out there cool.gif Shauna

We have a fake parrot. And I keep telling everyone I'm trying to teach it to talk. Wouldn't they look... LOL!!!

Hey, I like the wooden dog idea, too. Wouldn't crap in front of my steps or pee on my tires. wink.gif

Since we sell dog treats and blankets at our vendor booth, we bring Sparky along. Sparky is a battery-operated sleeping pup, however his breathing is sporadic at best. What's funny is to watch people look closely at him, reach out to pet him, and then he takes an unexpected "breath".

Sparky will be joining us when we start our full-timing in 2010. I promise - he won't keep any of you up with his barking! Maybe he could be pals with the wooden dog! tongue.gif
