Tacoma originally wanted to require a $10 permit for parking over 4 hours in an RV. They changed it to 24 hours after the what-should-have-been-obvious problems were pointed out. Details:

From the article...."Thursday afternoon’s Tacoma City Council public safety subcommittee meeting offered a perfect example of how efforts to regulate bad behavior on the part of some can, at least on paper, turn otherwise law-abiding citizens into violators"

Is that not the root cause of all of our problems. We should be addressing that "bad behavior" therefore removing the cause.

This article ........brushes.............on the slippery slope that we are facing. It is obvious that sometimes cooler head prevail, but compromises lead to erosion of choice.

Are we becoming so intolerant of others, that times and things like this will change our way of life?

Bowtiepuller.. We can agree on some things. Your quote is right on the money. It is the intolerence of the few that affect the many.

I think they upped this stupid provision to 7 days before it goes to the full council.
This code seems to be quite arbitrary in it's implementation. Got a neighbor that doesn't like you, guess who will get the call.
This was started by the Tidal Wave group that went after derelict cars and trashed yards, it worked.
But a shotgun approach against all RVers is not the way to go.
I live in Tacoma 6 months out of the year, and AZ the other 6 months.
I'm thinking of contacting Good Sam to see if they have anyone here locally that can defeat this proposal.
It's not the RV parks that are pushing this since Tacoma doesn't have any!

I got a chuckle from the polices' comment to Councilwoman Marilyn Strickland when she asked about the ordinance being used against families who found themselves homeless..."the police assured her that in those cases officers try to get the people into housing programs and in touch with social services."

We have family in Tacoma and often visit the area (although we stay at either the Tacoma Elks or the Puyallup Elks, not out on the street). But I guess the Tacoma police would consider us "homeless" and try to get us into housing and in touch with social services! laugh.gif
