We have a fabric ceiling in our 5thwheel. I vacuum it routinely, but there are areas around the lights and vents that need to be cleaned. I have tried the Woolite Foam, but that has actually left a yellow stain. Anyone have any ideas on how to clean these ceilings???

This is what NuWa recommends for cleaning fabric ceilings

QUOTE
I had indicated I would provide our service departments suggested
cleaning method for water stained ceiling fabric. Here it is:

Pour 8 oz. of liquid bleach into a 32 oz. spray bottle.
Fill the rest of bottle with water.

Protect any furniture below area from overspray, and consider doing
the same for any panel or trims, that might receive overspray, as the
bleach solution will do just that to other materials.

Mist the stained area. Then take a clean white cloth and dab the
misted/stained area with the white cloth. I assume the idea is to
dab the bleach solution into the stained area gently, so it can
bleach the stain color out.

Allow to dry 4-6 hours, and the stain should be gone. If not, a
second application might be necessary, whether it be because the
stain is heavy or because one was too cautious with the first
application.

RV says that this simple technique works great. Hope this helps.
Please disregard my previous post, that was an effort of describing
from memory. This is the correct technique. MIKE

I have used Folex carpet & upholstry cleaner for years. I use it for carpets, upholstry, day/night shades (with a Q tip) . You can get it at Wal Mart or Target. It is an excellent cleaner and never stains.

I've been told by someone who attended a seminar on cleaning a motorhome that the formula for cleaning is 1/4 cup each of vinegar, club soda, bleach and very hot water in a spray bottle. Spray on ceiling and leave for about an hour and it is supposed to be clean.
Have not tried it but probably will in the spring or when we are somewhere warm where we can open up windows.

Thanks to all of you. I will look for the Folex next time I'm at Wal Mart. I'm a little nervous about using bleach. Not that it won't work, just that I always end up with bleached spots where I don't want them to be!!! If you know what I mean!!! But, if nothing else works, I'll cover everything with a tarp and go at it!!!

I hate this fabric ceiling. We are non-smokers, but just cooking in the RV is not good. Teton Homes did not offer the vinyl ceiling when we ordered our 5thwheel. Eventually, I would like to have the fabric replaced with vinyl.

Thanks again for the info.

I used a carpet machine, set for upholstery to clean the ceiling on our Teton. Working over my head was not fun but in little time the ceiling was clean. I use regular carpet cleaning solution.

Oxyclean in a spray bottle works magic on fabric ceiling stains. Spray and walk away. I know it sounds too good to be true, but it isn't!

I have heard of this method too. The folks who recommended it to us claims that it works GREAT. We'll be trying it soon as we have been wanting to get rid of some ugly areas.

I too have used this successfully. Luckily my leak was in the shower area. Sprayed and then wiped/dobbed with white rag.

We have carpeted ceilings in our 5er and it gets dusty especially around vents and the ceiling fan. I have used one of those sticky rollers sold to pick up pet hair from upholstery. We buy them at Walmart for about 5 bucks. They are essentially made of wide masking tape wound backwards (sticky side out) on a roller. The masking tape comes in a couple of different widths but 6 inches seems about the easiest to find. There is a razor cut all the way through the layers of tape down to the core. After removing the protective cover, you roll the thing over the surface you want to clean. When it has grabbed all the lint and fuzz it can, you just peel off the outer layer of tape and throw it away. Now you have a brand new sticky layer exposed and you go after more lint and fuzz.

I'm fairly tall so I can reach the ceiling just by standing on a step stool. To use it from a standing position while walking around on the floor, I'm sure that I could figure out a way to take the roll off the plastic handle and mount it on a paint roller with a long handle.

I won't use anything else. This really, really works like a charm.
