The normal windows update installed an IE 10 update 3 days ago and ever since I have been having a problem.  I get the IE has stopped working and is checking for a solution window.  It checks with no solution.  I hit cancel and it resets and I move on until the next time.  Any Suggestions?

Hi Dennis,

There is one of the updates that has been retracted because it causes some issues with certain hard and software combinations. Read this Threatpost article, go to the MS links and uninstall that one update and see if that resolves the problem.

Hope that helps!

There is a known problem with Win 7 and IE 10 that MS is working on. Go to CP, Programs and Features, installed Windows Updates, choose IE 10 and uninstall. When IE 10 is uninstalled, IE 9 will be put back.

There is a way to hide the IE 10 update. Simply right click an offered update and choose to Hide It. Now you will not see that update offered. Once MS figures out the problem with many of the Win 7 installations you can attempt it again.

Thanks, I went in and found the MS 13-036 (2823324) update and deleted it on my laptop here in the office. I will do the same with my laptop in the MH tonight.

Thanks Again

There have been documented problems with FF and Chrome as well. New updates do not always work properly. In my experience (with Win 8) IE 10 is faster and more secure than FF, and only slightly slower, but more secure than Chrome.

As with any other S/W, we generally only hear from those having problems. The vast majority do not have problems and thus do not write and say everything is working fine. Most of these problems are related to interaction with other S/W or H/W installed on the respective systems. Unfortunately no one can develop an app that works on all those millions of systems in existence.

Midico: I agree with you. I have had problems with every anti virus program after an OS update sometime in the past few years. Will all the computers and hardware and software out there that interface with the OS it isn't too surprising that somethings don't work. Before someone says get a Mac, I have had to work on two systems (out of maybe four that I have helped with) that had major issues with an OS upgrade and required per Apple, a reinstall of the original OS.

I remember not being able to use FF and had to  go back a release a few years ago.

Stuff happens.

Went home yesterday and went to uninstall the update from my home laptop and could not find it. It was not in my update windows history. Which is funny because it was on my home laptop that I was having all the problems and not on my office laptop which is the one I found it on after RV pointed me in the right direction. Both units are windows 7 Professional, both have 8 gig of ram. The office is a (Sony Core i5) the home is a ( HP Core i3).

You have to click the link on the left that says View Installed Updates. All the Windows updates should appear here.
