washer/dryer help

We are now full timers and the DW has had her fill of rv park laundry's. I know the pros and cons of the all in one and stackables. My problem is finding stackables that has a 110/120 volt dryer. I would appreciate some model numbers and brands that you have purchased. We are not ruling out the all in one, simply because the DW s not sure she wants to loose all her storage space. Splendid is not a favorite because we have heard service and parts are not readily available. if this is not true please explain.

thanks everyone in advance. Keeping the DW is paramount.

We have a HAIRE HWD1600 combo model and just recently bought a second unit for my mothers condo. The drying cycle takes a long time with 120V, so we usually hang our clothes on a rack inside/outside depending on the weather, but can use the dryer if desired. One load every other day works good for us. I like the screen which has a diagnostic built into it and the error code will tell you what is wrong so you can order the parts online and repair it yourself. My mothers condo is on 3rd floor and the error code read low water pressure, so I removed the inlet screen and now it runs fine with out costing a repair man. Our Cameo fifth wheel had space for a stackable which now sports 2 extra shelves.

Ours are Whirlpool, tho' not designed as "stackable", I stacked them and they have been in place since 2006. If you do a google search on "compact washer", and "compact dryer", you will have several to review. If your closet is already plumbed for the washer, you can create a bit more room by relocating the washer hook up to the basement...it also makes the connection point more accessible.

Ours our from 2 different sets. The whirlpool front loader from one and the 110 dryer from another. We went to Lowes and ordered them out of their warehouse. Just look on line for the model numbers. Had themm since 2008 still going strong. Our dryer has always ridden on a shelf above the washer. In our 5th wheel it was a tall closet but was designed for a combo so we needed to make a hole for the dryer vent. Scared the Dickens out of me to watch a hole being cut out of the side but it was just fine for years. They fit right in the MH closet

We had Whirlpool separates that worked great. The dryer literally hung on the wall above the washer which allowed room for drawers between them for laundry & cleaning supplies.

No problem with drying time with a 110/120 largely due to the fact that the washer had a spin speed adjustment. On medium high spin the dryer would dry a load in less than half an hour.

DW has had Whirlpool apartment(compact) sized separates in the last rig and this rig and she loves them. The 110 v dryer does just fine according to her. She much prefers the front load style units. Be sure to get vented version of the dryer. Best Wishes, Jay

Ours came with Kenmore apartment separate washer and dryer and the previous owner stacked these in the laundry closet. It has had heavy use since 2003 and always works great. Particularly useful if you have pets. THere is always something that needs freshening up, today.

A few things to consider when stacking separate units:

Be sure the hinges will work in your installation and if a top loading washer (preferred) that you have enough clearance for the lid and to put in detergent/bleach, etc. Many RV parks don't want visitors to use powdered detergents so keep that in mind, too.

Controls for the dryer (on top, of course) need to be easily accessible. Same goes for the filters.

You may want to have a switch or modification (before it is installed) to silence the "load completed" buzzer on the dryer. In <400 sq ft is it most likely you will know when it stops, anyway and having that thing blasting you awake is like getting hit with a cattle prod during siesta time. Makes choosing when to do laundry a bit more flexible.

Be sure the dryer venting has no sharp turns. You can 't just pull it out to clean the exhaust tubes when they get clogged up.

Also, remember that fabric softeners usually contain some amount of wax and that will build up inside the air passages and turn simple lint into felt pads suitable for sliding furniture around on hard floors. Avoid dryer sheets if at all possible because wrestling a stacked W/D out to where you (or an expensive service tech) can open and clean it is usually very difficult.

This is the first RV in 40+ years that we have had a W/D in and had we known how much easier life would be, I would have found a way to have them with us many years ago.

Where to put the clothes and things a W/D may displace is worth the daily convenience it adds. Full Time RV life is not camping. There is no letting stuff stack up until you get :"Home". You are home and clean or dirty, soft goods take up space.

It is a fifty-fifty thing as whether the washer is plumbed into the gray tank. Our washer is plumbed into the drain line, after the gray tank. We have to be connected to the park sewer to wash clothes.

Ours is plumbed the same way, but we do laundry when boondocking by closing the extra valve we added to the end of the drain line, and opening the grey valve. Works great. We use a macerator to pump the waste into a portable tank to haul to the dump station. This works best if boondocking someplace where water and dump are nearby, like Q or Imperial Dam LTVA areas.

I would strongly disagree that Spendide parts and tech service is lacking. The tech service has saved me money by offering a work around instead of replacing a part and has had whatever part I needed for immediate shipping. The issue of all in one vs individual units is arguable, however my DW loves her all-in-one as you can throw in a load and forget it until its done and saves space and weight.

Easy solution for the 100/220 VAC problem just get a gas drier. Have a tech orifice for propane from the installed natural gas orifice. Low propane use. This way you can work with a 30 amp outlet. We have a gas drier and use maybe a 5 gallon bottle every four months with two to three washer loads per week, means three to five drier loads per week. Remember guys not everything is dried on high. :) One caveat - use only metal piping for the vent to the outside as that vent pipe is the burner exhaust.

We have a plain jane Whirlpool 110volt apartment size dryer that we have stacked on top of a front loader Whirlpool washer. They are not a "set" so they don't "match" for pretty photo shoots. I've had to repair the washer several times but the dryer has worked just fine for over 5 years now.

We have them both plugged into the same 20 amp outlet and I can't remember of a time when it popped the breaker. We run them both at the same time without any difficulty. The washer spins quite a lot of the water out of the clothes and the dryer has it's load dry in fairly close to the time that the washer has finished it's next load so it's easy to keep it going for multiple loads in a day.

We also use the Spendide SC2100 and my wife loves it. As stated above, wash a full load and dry a half load. Much quicker and less wrinkles.

Okay, we have a similar model and have yet to figure out out to set it up to just dry and not go through the wash cycle again. Help?

Set the Cycle to #5, #10, or #13 depending on the type of fabric you have, set the time you want it to dry and turn it on. You will hear water starting to run in for about a half second, but these are the dry only cycles.
