spindrift
A real conundrum, folks. While on the road, my wife and I are not big TV watchers but we would like to be able to access most of the "major" networks. Personally, I don't see us needing a permanent satellite install purely because I don't see the cost/benefit of making this kind of investment. From what I've seen, the newest HDTV upgrades such as Winegard Razer Air or The King Jack Over the Air HDTV antennas are untested. So I'm thinking I might be inclined to make a moderate investment in something in the middle cost range. While at an RV dealer today, the parts department had placed on the floor a used, but only used once, Winegard Carryout G2. I'm told the list on a unit like this is around $700. I could purchase the unit for under $500. Would something like this fit the bill for us and is this a decent unit? Mark and Dale Bruss
Only one LNBF meaning only one satellite at a time. Two TVs can watch different channels on the same satellite. Dutch_12078
The G2 supports two single tuner satellite receivers or one dual tuner receiver. Both receivers or tuners will only receive channels that are on the same satellite. Multiple TV's can be hooked up using ordinary splitters to mirror programming on more than one TV if desired. Mark and Dale Bruss
For $500, I would buy a DPP1000.2 Dish with EA and WA LNBF heads, a TV4RV.com HD Tripod kit, an Accutrac 22 Pro meter, and might have enough left over for an Align-A-Sight. I would be able to receive all three WA satellites or both EA primary satellites and any receiver could watch and satellite/channel and I could have a DVR. Setup time would be a few minutes, not much more than getting a G2 running. spindrift
Mark...I have absolutely no idea what you just said. I'm in Louisville right now; when can you be here for the install? Clearly, I require some edumication. Any suggestions for some good, clear and concise reading material? 2012 F350 KR CC DRW w/ some stuff 2019 Arctic Fox 32-5MCindy and Tom, Kasey and Maggie (our Newfie and Berner) Oh...I forgot the five kids. lakejumper
I have the Winegard G2. It can be mounted on a roof with a kit or on a tripod. Directv only uses one satellite so you can use two receivers. I bought mine brand new about 6 weeks ago from Tweety's RV online with free shipping for about $545. $500 used is not a good price. Once you plug in the power to find the satellite, you can unplug the power. Also, you can't receive HD channels but on smaller TV's 32" or so, it really isn't very noticeable. 2016 Winnebago Vista LX 30T
accumack
Are you wanting to be able to watch tv while moving ? If so this will not work. If it is for being stationary it will. You can run 2 receivers 1 is the master the other the slave as long as the channel is on the same transponder you can watch different channels but only the master changes the transponder. I used this setup for a couple of years but got tired of my wife changing channels on the master and me loosing what I was watching. I have gone to a regular dish and tripod and only takes 5 to 10 minutes once you get used to setting it up. We now can watch any channel from any tv without bothering the other. 2011 Berkshire 390-rb-40, upgraded tires and front axle airbags, 2012 Jeep Wrangler 2 door, Blue Ox baseplate and BlueOx aladdin tow bar, Blue Ox Patriot brake system, wiring run through right frame rail and homemade led taillight bar. Actually with a ground tripod dish, not only can you watch separate satellites, for DirecTV you can watch HD which you can't do with a dome dish.
