  1. Hank Green has an interesting podcast with an expert about how contract tracing with smartphones can work and the privacy implications and workarounds. LINK: https://podcasts.google.com/?feed=aHR0cHM6Ly9jb3ZpZHN1Y2tzLmxpYnN5bi5jb20vcnNz&episode=NTMzN2E1ZTUtN2RlNy00MGM2LTkzMGItNDc0ZDBjYzk4MWNi Alternatively you can find it on a number of platforms such as Spotify and iTunes if you search for the podcast "COVID Sucks" and the episode title is "Vi is deep in the data."
  2. Same closing date as my former home. By far the most stressful part of the transition. No problems sitting in a campground since mid-March. But having my mind go wild over all the things that could go wrong with the house sale has been stressful. On the positive side, sitting in a campground for two months has allowed us to work out a few of the kinks without compounding difficulties by traveling.
  3. Valuable comments on Visible. I was unaware of a few of those limitations. I have the VZW "Do More" plus a Jetpack. If you stream extensively you will quickly burn through your data. I've seen estimates that it is up to 1Gb per hour. But lower resolution can drop it down substantially. What I have started doing is downloading Netflix shows onto my smartphone using free wifi I come across. Plus at the end of the billing cycle I will make sure to use up my allocation on the smartphone and Jetpack. I then link my phone through my computer to my TV to watch the shows on the big screen. That part is quite specialized (android -> linux using USB debugging and scrcpy) but I've heard it's more straightforward with an iPhone. This does not work with Amazon Prime and I can't comment on Hulu. Anyway, that's the way I've been able to get around the absence of truly unlimited data in addition to sketchy reception in remote areas.
  4. You clearly understand the seriousness of this disease Randy. Barbara is correcting you because calling it the flu (with whatever modifier you choose) is how people who wish to minimize the seriousness of the situation characterize it. I'm heartened by the number of people on this forum who are taking this very seriously. Wish that were the case elsewhere. Many of us are quite fortunate that we can effectively keep away from people. Not much choice for those in frontline professions.
  5. Yes, I had a university class from one of the attorneys in that case. I think his name was Bill Goetz (?). This was 35 years ago, but he claimed he thought they were very close to winning and if they had framed their argument differently they would have. Be interesting to see if this issue ever comes up again.
  6. We're hoping to start moving again after Memorial Day. Where will depend on where we can find camping since our preference is with state parks. I think the bigger question is HOW will you travel. If the museum or restaurant is open are you going in? What about the potluck at the RV park? We've kept isolated by doing curbside pickup for groceries and package delivery for other needs. I don't see that changing as we move along. Our preference is for outdoor activities that are best without crowds anyway, so beyond missing out on breweries, we're not overly affected. Fortunately we are not in a high risk group. Our behavior is about protecting those who are in a high risk group if we are inadvertently asymptomatic carriers. The less contact we have, the safer are those in high risk groups.
  7. A very sensible response. If you have a reservation at a campground for a significant length of time (two weeks to a month depending on the state) traveling will not be an issue. You may be stopped and questioned and forced to self-quarantine like Texas. But any attempt to actually close a state border will be stopped quickly until the Commerce clause of the US Constitution gets suspended. I don't doubt you will hear those stories about people on the highway turned back. Might be one or two stories with a smidgen of truth but important details are missing. Just people stirring it up and passing along rumours. If you've got legitimate reasons then don't worry.
  8. I would recommend using the CMRA. If the IRS has issues with your tax filing, they generally contact you via the USPS. If you don't get those letters, things can get worse. I'm not really sure why you haven't been working on moving over to the CMRA. The only company I've had a problem with (using the TX service) is Bank of America. All my other financial institutions haven't had a problem. It is easy and convenient. With regards to stimulus checks, the IRS is trying to do direct deposit as much as possible. If you did not list a bank account on the previous year's filing, you may be able to update the IRS. They claim to be building a portal.
