Fulltimer51
For those who are non residents of, but have worked in MD, how bad of a hit did you take with MD income taxes? I have lived there in the past but not since '68 and we are thinking about workamping in MD for the summer. JohnM
Check out Maryland Form 505 for Non Resident Income Tax. ...short answer: it depends on how much of your taxable income was earned in MD and how much time you spent in the state. With generous exemptions, filing jointly, etc., you might owe nothing. Income in excess of your exemptions would would be taxed from 2% to 4.75% of the excess income for typical wage earners (high-rollers pay more!). Oh, and if you stay too long in state MD will tax everything! gjhunter01
It was once said if you are paying taxes, the problem is you are making money. Joking aside, get a MD non-resident tax form and fill it out with the amount you plan to earn using last years Federal Tax info, and you should get a good idea what your tax impact would be. My wife and I had the same concern when we worked the sugar beet harvest last year, after filling out the non-resident ND tax form, our tax cost was $9.
