Jim Gehlen
Steve/Gail: You guys seem to be having a good time with the rallies while at the same time doing a fine job.As for 2015, according to the records I have left, it will be the 10th annual which is quite a big deal.Unfortunately we can not escape our commitments until close to Oct 25th which puts a crimp in any plans to attend.Jim Paint your wagon and come along 98 Volvo, VNL 610 01 Alfa Ideal, 38'6" South Dakota plates SKP # 68396
whatsnext
Steve and Gail, what a great job of organizing a fun event. It was our first and certainly will not be the last one we attend....though in the future we will bring our own HDT and coach instead of gawking at everyone else. We too have made some friends and are excited about our upcoming 2016 "jump" into this wonderful lifestyle. phoenix2013
Steve and Gail, you guys really know how to throw a "party"! That wasn't all the rigs, there were few "stragglers" who remained in the park. It was good to see all the "veterans" but even more so all the new folks who attended for the first time to learn, to "absorb" and form new friendships. All the vehicles (other than HDTs) arrived either piggybacked on the HDTs or in "mobile garages". Mr. Cobb brought his two Urals (Soviet knockoffs of the German infantry BMWs) He also brought a brand new 2014 model they make these days. These things are made for off road travel and will go places even 4 x 4s don't dare to go. Post Rally "decompression" Happy Hour. And the boys! With boys there is no "decompression" since the BS session never stop. Didn't take too many pictures, busy all week. I'm sure there will be albums posted later and Gregg took some "interesting" areal videos of the Rally.
lappir
For the two days I was there it was a great rally. Good to see everyone both new and previously met in years past. Don't want to do the Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Kansas, Florida trip any time soon again. Way too many miles in too few days. I have about 5 to 10 miles to finish up my travel until well after the first of the year. It will be complete by 2pm tomorrow. Rod PS Thanks to Steve, Gail, all the presenters and those who help out. The Few
Steve, you and Gail did a great job. We arrived home yesterday. Round trip 2200 miles and averaged 7.6 mpg per computer. Hello Suite, With your distance and gas milage, how much did it cost you to fill up driving that distance, and did you run the tanks (almost) empty?? I'm assuming 7.6mpg@2200 miles would have taken about 225-250 gallons?? The Few

I'm assuming 7.6mpg@2200 miles would have taken about 225-250 gallons?? Fuel averaged 2.69/gal for 280 gals so fuel cost was about $800. Just filled up at Kroger with fuel points and paid $1.79/ gal for 35 gals. Diesel around here running $2.38 so if it holds will be a cheaper trip this year. I do not run my tanks to empty. Will top off if we need a break or we see cheap fuel. I never go below 1/4 tank showing on gauge and when it gets that low I usually stick check at our rest stop. BTW with campsites, food, fuel we spent two weeks with our friends at the National and spent less than $100/day. Last time we spent night at Hampton Inn paid $104 for the night and still had to buy our meals. This is still a cheaper way to vacation, IF you don't have mechanical issues. 2006 Volvo 780 "Hoss" Volvo D12, 465hp, 1650 ft/lbs tq., ultrashift Bed Build by "JW Morgan's Custom Welding" 2017 DRV 39DBRS3 2013 Smart Passion Coupe "Itty Bitty" "Don't go around saying the world owes you a living.
