SD antenna to HD receiver

Recommended Posts

I've discussed connecting a Wingard Carryout to both the H24 and HR24 receivers. They've stated the following:

I can connect the Carryout directly to the both the H24 and HR24. I can use the record feature on the HR24 if I connect both co-axs.

In order top accomplish this I need to go to set-up and select the appropriate antenna configuration. I've downloaded the manuals for both and when I get to set-up it states that's for DTV tech and it's not available. Is there any documentation on this available? I would like to review prior to investing in one of those receivers.

I understand that using the carryout I can't get HD. My setup will use other antennas that allow HD, the aforementioned is what need to resolve.

Not sure why it's not in the manual but it is a simple process. Just follow the prompts on the screen as it walks you through it.

I've done that in the past on other receivers and setup. I couldn't find it in the manuals. Nada from DTV customer support (normal).. I've talked to their RV group in the past and they are sometimes helpful, I'll try that unless I get a response from this forum. Have a friend with a H24, I may go through his. Just wanted to review before I buy something.

As best I can recollect, the only "trick" to going through setup was to notice that you need to push the "-" key in order to enter the setup process. Once you've done that you use the dropdown boxes to enter the switch type (Multiswitch) and the antenna type (18" round). After that go through all the steps and let it check signal strengths. You keep clicking on Ok or Next or whatever. Eventually, you'll reach the end of the process and you should be Ok.
