Ham Radio at Vermont Escapade 2016

I have been looking for hams where I am hosting now since May 1 and have only had one response to my "standing by" on 146.520. It was a man and wife and both were hams. I drove down to their site and we had a nice visit.

Now I'm looking for another one. No response yet today.

I used to have my call and 146.520 posted on the rear on my trailer and monitored the frequency while on the road. I would occasionally call on the frequency with my call and a monitoring or standing by.

Never did get a call, so I seldom turn on the VHF radio.

I guess I need to put the info on the rear of the trailer and try again.

I will be there. I'll have a 146/220/440 HT and an all mode Yaesu ft-857. I currently have a home built 146/440 antenna and an 75 meter ham-stick dipole that I mount to my ladder with a flagpole buddy and some surplus fiberglass masts.

The back window of my truck had a call sign decal and another one saying "146.52 I'm listening".

I figured I would check in with the Ham Aradio bog.

We will be attending our first Escapade after being Escapees for over 20 years. We are both Hams and haven't done much with ham radio in the last few years. A bit rusty so would like to get with other hams for a bit and ask questions and catch up.We will be arriving Saturday. We have two other Ham friends attending also, The first Escapade for all of us and all long time SKP's.

We have recently purchased a Baofeng BF-F8HP and a BF UV5RV-2 radios. Hopefully there will be someone that has experience with programming these radios.

What is the trail in Hz? the offset Hz and direction? and the tone if any?

I give a monitoring when driving cross country. I have had several responses in places you would not expect.

My only radio at the moment is an Icom ID 51A+. I usually monitor several FM frequencies specific to where I am (local simplex frequencies and repeaters), but always 146.52 and 446.00. I also monitor D-Star REF030C.

For D-Star access when away from a D-Star repeater I have a DVAP mounted in a DHAP housing running on a Raspberry Pi 2B. So I have D-Star access as long as I have a cell phone signal which is most everywhere including driving down the road.
