Overnight RV Parking at Casinos

We've been living and traveling fulltime in our motorhome for over 11 years. Our current rig is a 2010 40' Phaeton and am loving it.

Since we hate paying high prices for a RV Park when traveling, just to stop and sleep for the night, we always consider spending the night at a Casino. Many casino's welcome RV'ers with open arms, as we usually will go inside and gamble and have a meal. Almost always, parking (dry camping) overnight is free. Some casino's even have electric hookups that are free, and a few even have free full hook-ups. We prefer staying at a Casino instead of parking overnight at Walmarts, Truck Stops, etc. We've even came away with the casino paying us" for the stay (winning at the casino).

Our best source of information on finding RV Friendly Casinos is at the Casino Camper website. Recently, we took over operation of this website. Many improvements have recently been made, more are coming, and we're working on validating the casino information provided. Currently, there's almost 400 casino's listed that are RV Friendly and more keep being added The site provides detailed information on these casinos, maps, photos, and reviews from people who have stayed at there.

Come check us out at http://www.casinocamper.com and add us to your list of RV Parking websites.

If you're retired from U.S. Military service (or active duty), you definitely would be interested in the U.S. Military Campgrounds and RV Parks website. We've been running this great site for over 10 years.

We asked permission to park overnight at one casino and they said yes. Wrong wording. Parking overnight is allowed but sleeping in your rig is not--you are supposed to rent a room. Oops. We have, however stayed overnight at other casinos with success. Be careful what you ask for when requesting permission.

If you have an HDT you have to be careful Cuz "the truck looks commercial" and you can't park here. Or so said the casino in Tulsa Oklahoma. We had to move on. Even though a 1ton with all the dot numbers was parked two spaces over with a 40 ft flat bed.

But casino can be a good place !!!

Pulled into a casino in IL, with a 36' MH. Security came at us from all directions. I mean like 4 different vehicles at high speeds. I stopped immediately and said what did I do wrong. They told me you can't park that thing here, RV's are not allowed. I said wow, only planned on being here a couple hrs and I had stopped out at the very end of the parking lot. It was early in the day and there was very few cars there at that time. I asked well do you have some place that we can park. They stated maybe that hotel will allow it? It was owned by the casino.

I said well if it's that big a deal we will just move on to another casino that wants us I guess. They looked at me and said well be that way!! Wish I could remember that casino name but it was out near Jolliet IL, and not in town. It wasn't Harrahs that is in Jolliet. Just off the highway!

Glad to see that there is a site for casino camping. We purchased the Casino Camping Guide by Jane Kenny, but a website should have more up to date information. My wife and I will be trying to use casinos for overnight RV stays this upcoming year, but I'm not too sure we will save much money! :D We love the Sams Town Campground in Tunica, MS. It's not free, but very inexpensive for nice FHU sites. We will be trying Metropolis, Il in October and then those across I 10 in Louisiana as we head to the Rio Grande Valley for January.

Glad to hear Sam's Tunica is back open again. We had planned to camp there when we last passed through Tunica in 2011. But the campground was closed from flood damage, it was overgrown, and it wasn't clear it would ever reopen.

Larry,

I checked out your site and like the information that it provides. I signed up for membership on the website but never recieved an email to verify the account. I thought maybe my registration didn't go through so I tried to register again and it says that my email and user name are already taken. So I'm assuming my information is in your system. I sent an email via your contact page with my registration info, but have not received a reply as of today 9/13. If you see this hopefully you can help me work through the registration process.

Thanks

We've stayed at several Casinos overnight when passing on our travels starting at Coeur D'Alene (nicest one and received complimentary $15 x 2 buffet with spin wheel at membership!) up and down Washington N to S and east to West. Best buffet was Tulalip at $20 each. Currently parked for two nights (came in late last night and persistent rain all day today so decided to stay extra day and get chores done etc) at Quenault Resort & Casino in Ocean Shores Wa.

Couldn't believe our eyes at 10.30pmish last night, and sure makes us realize why RVers get a bad rap. Wife ran back to C series RV from Casino, hubby followed about 10 mins behind. Few minutes after that he comes out dressed in just Tee shirt and speedo type underwear, goes around the drivers side of the RV and stands there peeing beside it for all the world to see (albeit dark). We sat having our last night cuppa, with jaws on floor shaking our heads at each other, wondering what goes on that we don't witness (LOL).

Anyway's for us as a one overnighter generally, which we do a lot of preferring for now to travel and see what we can during the daylight, we are finding we feel more secure in the Casinos than the Walmart's and rest areas nowadays for the most part.

And little did that guy know, that he was on camera the whole time. Most casino parking areas have cameras watching the parking lot.

  • 1 month later...

FWIW, we've just rounded up 43 nights on the road, staying in official CG's for just 4 of those nights, and hitting many Casinos for overnights and sometimes at their welcoming a couple nights. Of all the Casinos we stayed at we were specifically treated wonderfully by two: Security and staff plus facilities albeit a smaller casino at the Lucky 7 on the Oregon/California border coast (north of Crescent City/south of Brookings IIRC?), were very kind and attentive with wonderful help yourself amenities. Blue Water Resort about 2 miles North of Parker AZ were fabulous, and very customer service geared, even to the point of security telling my husband to hop on their golf cart with his fishing rod to take him down to the river (a wee but not excessive hike from the carpark), wonderful pool facilities we were welcomed to use. Ironically we'd stayed in actual Parker the night before, but ended up stopping there for the whole "hot" day and overnight before heading into Lake Havasu, and will definitely return.

Casino Camper has definitely become one of our primary go to resources when travelling and looking for an O/N enroute.
