Article with tips for buying a used pickup truck

Thanks, the article provides lots of good information. My experience when I was

looking for a used diesel pickup has been that they are way over priced for trucks

with lots of miles. This was in the Houston, Texas area were 50% of all new registrations

are pickups. I looked high and low and I wouldn't pay what they were asking for trucks with

way to many miles. I know the diesels engines will last a lot of miles but the rest of the truck is just a pickup

and after that many miles you will have issues.

I ended up buying new after lots of looking. I did so because the used ones with that many miles were

past the warranty and to high priced. If you buy used and past the warranty and have engine issues the replacement

cost is very high. If they were used for towing lots then there is the transmission. While I may have paid a good bit more,

new 2011 F250 XLT CC diesel long bed RWD, for $39,125, it had a full warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles and diesel engine for 100,000

miles.

Howdy whj,

Sorry for taking so long to answer, just saw your post today.

That is what I'm seeing too; the difference between an 1-year-old used PU with 30-50k miles on the odometer is usually only $2-3k less than a brand new one.

It makes no sense to me to buy a used vehicle halfway through its warranty for just ~5% savings...

Cheers,
