Las Cruces to Oklahoma City w non-Interstates?

Driving 40' MH from Las Cruces to Oklahoma City. We normally feel safest in the Winter staying on the interstates. GPS best routes to OKC have many miles of US and state roads, connecting to interstates. Las Cruces to Santa Rosa is one. Another is Roswell to Amarillo. If we go to El Paso we have the most interstates but still other roads from Big Spring to Wichita Falls. This last is longer, but feels better being unfamiliar with the other routes. Thoughts from your experience?

Thanks much.

US-54 from Las Cruces to Santa Rosa is a good mostly 2 lane highway. We have driven it many times. US-70 from Alamogordo to Roswell and on to US-60 and Amarillo is a good route. However, US-70 involves soe mountain driving climbing to Ruidoso and descending. There are ski resorts in Ruidoso so you will need to watch the weather and road conditions more closely for that route. Another all interstate route would be I-25 North to I-40. You could also head East on US-380 from I-25 to Roswell and pickup US-70 there. Capitan, about midway, is at a higher elevation. A little further North, US-60 (another good 2 lane) will take you East to Amarillo.

Yep, like has been said run up to Alamagordo and catch 54 then up to 40 and you're good.

Recommendation, if your looking for a park along the way would be Oasis RV Resort just west of Amarillo a couple of miles. We stay there several times a year and have always had a good experience.

As an alternative you could go to Roswell, Lubbock then Wichita Falls to avoid the interstate as much as possible. Recommendation would be Mesa Verde RV Park a little SW of Lubbock. There is little between Lubbock and Wichita Falls. Crosbyton has a city park on the east end it's nothing special just a place to get a few hours of sleep.

Neither of these are a bad choice, both are good roads just different scenery.
