Voyager is not naked anymore!

Voyager has a bed on the back end! Larry still has some finishing work but it's getting close. Next week is paint and hopefully the following week is when we'll pick it up.

Getting excited to be in the truck again and getting closer to Hutch.

LOL.

It was funny because during the discussion of what we wanted, every time I mentioned a feature, Larry would say "you mean, like Jack's bed". Ha,ha. It was like a broken record after awhile as I kept saying "Yes".

He is incorporating some enhancements and a waste holding tank for additional storage but it is A LOT like your bed. We can compare features at Hutch!!!

Very nice David and appreciate your excitement! Voyager's sister Ruby is coming up right behind and we're planning our trip to Kilgore last weekend of Sept. to bring her home. Leaves us a few days to load her up and head to Hutch. Looking forward to meeting up and comparing builds.

There are a number of enhancements that could/have been incorporated. I should have put in a holding tank, and I should have made it a foot longer. That would have required rail extensions. Plus I have a mistake in my ramp compartment that requires the ramps to be unhinged for storage - a minor inconvenience. Other than that, for "me" my bed is pretty much perfect. I'm looking forward to seeing what differences there are in yours....

  • 2 weeks later...

Larry Herrin in Kilgore, TX is the builder. He's built many of the beds of the folks on the forum and does quality work at a reasonable price. Ours is getting finishing touches and we pick her up in a couple weeks. Give Larry a call at 903-984-7139.

It seems that with every bed Larry builds, the next guy along makes "improvements". I guess that is the nature of the beast. I see 4 smart cars on Larry's page. I do not recall who owns the white truck. Mine is the singled, maroon Volvo with the blue smart. Rocky's is the maroon tandem Volvo with the white smart and Jack's is the silver one. Once you see a Herrin bed up close, you will immediately recognize the work quality and style whenever you see another. You will attend a rally or see another HDT (or mdt) in a park and say "Oh look, another Herrin bed".

Herrin is one of the best and most distinctive bed builders in existence.

I can't wait to see Voyager and Ruby when they are completed.

We are excited to see it too! It will be exciting to see Ruby (Jim & Wilma) and all the other HDT's at the Rally. I am curious to compare notes and beds to see what changes Larry has made over the past year or so.

I am heading out to Kilgore this Thursday to pick up Voyager on Friday. Driving the Smart from SC to TX and piggyback it on Voyager for the return trip home. It's been a long summer waiting on it but we are close!!!

Now I know how children feel at Christmas.
