Daveh Posted November 21, 2015 Report Share Posted November 21, 2015 On United Healthcare I have read everything ranging from "they are out for sure and just giving investors a heads up" to "they are just bluffing to increase bargaining leverage". They aren't making up their losses though. United Healthcare has said they would do okay based on the people that enroll during the enrollment period but they are losing money when people use a lot of care and then drop their policy and by those who enroll outside the normal enrollment period. The coops had their funding slashed before they ever got started so those were not unexpected failures. The United Healthcare situation is more concerning. At this point the other major insurers indicate they remain committed to the individual market. United Health has about 6% of the individual marketplace.
