My current interests include bus conversions, full time RV living, and now HDT conversion units. At this point I'm a frequent "lurker" to this site to learn all I can about HDT units and 5th wheel trailers, etc. ----------

Something that I'm giving consideration to regarding the full time RV life is to provide Christian TV and teaching materials to campers. ---------

If you have a fast internet connection and want to see a sample of some of my all-time favorite teachers on Biblical subjects, may I suggest viewing materials available at www.kcm.org. ----------

I even have a tentative name for the ministry..."The Campground Chaplain". This whole train of thought is still in the formative stages.----------
1. I installed a Fumoto valve on mine. To retain the screen on the original plug you can drill and tap a hole in it, then choose a Fumoto with the appropriate threads to match. (A tip I learned from the smart car forum.)
2. I learned to drive in my dad's 1952 Chevy. My oldest brother was a mechanic at the local Chevy garage in those days, and swapped out the 216 for a slightly later 235. As I recall, the main difference was a pressure oil system vs the 216 splash dipper system. It would pin the oil pressure gauge to the top.
3. Thanks! It was a dream, but things never quite seemed to pan out. I had hoped to cruise the lower 48 at a leisurely pace and touch base with family and friends that I never seem to get to see. Now, unless I were to win a Powerball to finance such a combo, the years ahead of me are far fewer than those behind me. I still follow this forum every day, plus the Facebook groups. A number of the
4. Here's a place I've bought a couple items from. https://smartmadness.com/451-wheels-tires-upgrades.html I got a set of rear OE takeoff rims for the front so I could have the same size on all 4. When the original tires wore out I put the size the tire shop said fit a Toyota Yaris. I'd have to go look to be sure, but I want to say they're 185/70 size. They JUST fit. Any bigger and they would rub in the wheel well in a tight turn. On edit, I bet they could turn you on to a cruise control. I had mine done at a Car Toys that was literally next door to smart in Seattle, so it had cruise control from day one.
5. Thanks for the tour of your truck and trailer! It really enjoyed meeting you and your bride and to get to actually set eyes on a really nice setup! Don't know if/when things will ever come together to get my own rig, but I can still dream!
6. X3 I started driving motorcycles on the street in 1967, and in the 42 years I rode I've been in 46 of the lower 48 on 2 wheels. I also drove city buses in some of the heaviest traffic in the country (Seattle area) for 30 years. Driving as if you are invisible and expect the other driver to run you down is a good survival tactic. You learn to read what the other motorist is going to do, and make a practice of not being there when they make their move is something I'd call "aggressive defensive driving". You take charge of the situation.
7. I did a Google search to see if I could come across one used, but no joy (for now). I have seen one pop up here on this board now and then, but they seem to move really fast, so if you see one, jump on it. I think that quick-and-dirty math solution is pretty smart, though...maybe the better and cheaper way anyhow.? One less electronic device to have to mess with...
8. This is one of those "couldn't rip the grin off your faces if you used both hands" deals! Something that just now occurred to me...maybe you can score a Gear Master to help her get the hang of the gears when she gets her nerve up to drive... http://www.gearmaster.com
9. Love a story with such a happy ending! Just the big smile on her face had to be worth it all!
10. The answer to this is a question... Would YOU stand behind a manure spreader...?(especially if it was loaded and running...LOL) Edited to say Sorry...somebody else beat me to it before I got this posted...)
11. Maybe the checklist is this one (?) http://www.hhrvresource.com/node/53
