skp51443
For the new folks out there, Barb Nolley has been around for a long time and has a good reputation. This is her old site that you may recall seeing her at: mobileinternetsatellite.com First rule of computer consulting: Sell a customer a Linux computer and you'll eat for a day. skp51443
Hi Barb, remember when we had enough satellite users to have our own rallies? Good times! lots2see
First I've heard of this. I had Hughes Net going back to day one (under different names over the years) and though that when they went to spot beams it became impossible to even think about doing temporary setups while out RVing. Now that I've sold the house and am out full timing I'd love to have portable satellite Internet again. So what has changed to make this possible? Zulu
So what has changed to make this possible? Dunno. But RTC was the first just this June. skp51443
I don't follow it much any more but I read somewhere that Hughes still had two non-spot systems available but you needed to find one of the older 7000 series modems to use before they'd activate you. HamRad
If anyone is looking for an old 7000 system I may still have a couple sitting around. Didn't know Huges was still using them. bjnolley
This is definitely the newer, faster, more data Ka-band systems and it is just starting to happen. Our dealership and my installer certification just became active on Friday, so we plan to start training the first customer later next week. I will work on some documentation in the meantime. I found a manager within Hughes who is interested in the mobile market ... it is not officially sanctioned by Hughes, so the usual "keep it under the radar" approach will be used. But it clearly is step in the right direction. We're figuring out things as we go ... we got our dealer system online yesterday! and, yes, Stan, those rallys were a lot of fun! :-) HughesNet dealer (since 2015) & installer (since 2003) StarBand dealer (2004-2015)
