  1. My magazine subscriptions are forwarded on a temporary forward. I think they are 2nd or 3rd class?? Only the bulk junk mail is not.
  2. We have that problem with our local post office ... medical bills are often not forwarded, but sometimes are, they say because of the "Do Not Forward" thing. A few months ago a personal letter was returned stamped "Vacant ...unable to forward." Excuse for that one was "there was a substitute carrier". When the USPS is handing the mail it is a crapshoot...
  3. What system did you add? My coach came with the Maxum RV2000 which is basically a Dirt Devil in a different color. Even with a power head we felt it was barely adequate so bought a Dyson DC24 "All Floors" small ball model for deep cleaning.
  4. We got a mini-Dyson that works well ...Looks like the big ones but is smaller. They also make several smaller ones now that look more like a power broom but are true vacuum cleaners. Pricey compared to the cheap brands, but they work.
  5. Don't see how you would fry anything. The ATS will either switch over or it won't. I had one I sometimes had to smack w/a rubber mallet to pop the contact points loose so it would switch to shore power. That's a common problem when the user does not shut down the heavy loads before changing power sources.
  6. The only one I bought totally disintegrated after 10 months. Several years later I found one left at a site. It is still good 6-7 years later. The Ramble brand is similar (and last well) but you add your own ends.
  7. After repeated failures with the ShurFlo 5.7, I also carry a backup pump. For the backup I have the basic ShurFlo 1.8 gpm pump. After giving up the ShurFlo 5.1 I got a Flojet VSD 4.5. The Flojet works fine, but frankly I am very disappointed with it's performance ...doesn't seem any better than the 1.8.
  8. Is the slide system hydraulic or electric? ... and from what slide system mfg'er
  9. My Winnebago came with one coax inlet. There is a switch box in a front cabinet to select between satellite, catv, or OTA antenna. I have used the coax inlet for both catv and satellite at the same time. At the inlet point, I added a "power pass one side diplexer." Kind of like a splitter, but it MUST pass power on the satellite side. Then behind the switch box up front I used the same type diplexer to split the catv and satellite signals for their separate coax with satellite coax going to the sat box and then to the switch box, and catv coax going directly into the switch box. It worked great, even such that I could watch satellite on the bedroom TV while DW watched catv on the lounge tv.
  10. ...and there is ZERO difference between those military folks and many RVers.
  11. "Resident" normally means you do spend at least some time there ...I suspect someone's rational argument for being a resident of a state they are rarely or never in would make as much sense to the lawmakers as their law makes to you. . I would presume the point of the law is that there is in fact a safety inspection requirement, and too many residents (both those who spend time in the state and those who do not) are dodging the requirement. When enough people abuse the system long enough, the keepers of the system react. It is not a very stringent inspection, but it does ensure a vehicle has workings lights, wipers, and brakes. This kind of issue is exactly why we never seriously considered SD when I retired in VA and we started fulltiming ...we knew any visits to SD would be few and far between (and they have been). We did consider FL, but chose TX because we knew our travels would take us to or through the state at least yearly w/o really going out of our way.
  12. I suspect this is an excellent example of why the law has been changed ...an 18 yr resident whose vehicles have never been inspected in Texas! I also registered my vehicles by mail w/o inspections a year or two before we returned to Texas after my retirement from military. The vin verification I believe was part of the registration by mail process. As I recall, we had to show registration & inspection proof to get our TX dl in Livingston.
  13. Guess I missed something ...if caught doing what ...inspection when raining?
  14. Never had anyone take mh for a drive. One place took my old pickup for a drive. They are supposed to check brakes for effectiveness ...guess some do it by driving it. Most do it by driving the vehicle into their shop.
  15. Just hit one as soon as you can ... I noticed last year that my old pickup was about 6 mo overdue ...whatever works until you get caught!!
