CHIEFWAHO
Spoke with the shop. The pan is not coming off for the repairs. Their recommendation with what they have seen with the motor (everything looks good) is to leave the rod and main bearings alone. 1999 Volvo VNL610, Cummins M11 - 350/400 HP, 10 speed Rockwell - 'CHIEF' Custom flatbed with TrailerSaver air hitch. 3 cyl 8000 watt Kubota diesel generator. CHIEFWAHO
It's refreshing to hear that both you and the current shop are honest about not asking the first shop to pay for additional parts. Good on both of you! CHIEFWAHO
Well thanks to the jack wagons at the Joplin truck shop, no trip this weekend to pick up truck. They got the invoice Tuesday and basically done nothing with it. Even came in about a thousand under the estimate they agreed to pay. Done talking to the Joplin shop, called their head quarters in Memphis. Spoke with the corporate VP of Service a couple times late this afternoon. He is working on it now. Should know more tomorrow. If anyone would like the name of the Joplin shop so you can avoid them. Just PM me. 1999 Volvo VNL610, Cummins M11 - 350/400 HP, 10 speed Rockwell - 'CHIEF' Custom flatbed with TrailerSaver air hitch. 3 cyl 8000 watt Kubota diesel generator. hdonlybob
Having been a customer service manager for a very large company for ~ 10 years some time back, these stories make my blood boil. Real customer service is a thing of the past in most cases now a days... a sad thing. My advice...keep calling, and each time go higher up the ladder. And keep meticulous records of who you talked to, the exact time, and exactly what they said. If that does not help, contact/call the Better Business Bureau for that town or city, and/or anyone else that will listen to you. Just last week I received a ~$45 refund for shipping on an item I ordered for my old car from a company in California. The gentleman on the phone told me that there was an unadvertised special on Memorial Day Weekend for no shipping. When I contacted their customer service about it I was told that there was not a special Memorial Day anything. I gave him the exact date and time I ordered their product, as well as the name of the salesman. He said that most of their phone calls were recorded and would check back. He told me they they receive hundreds of phone calls a day, so this would be very helpful. He called back the next morning, apologized for the error by the salesman, and issued my credit. Point......He didn't have to go thru hundreds of calls to check this out, as it was close to (10) days later when I got the product and invoice.... CHIEFWAHO
Maybe done some good bypassing Joplin shop and talking with their corporate VP of Service. The check finally made it to Chattanooga Monday morning. The VP said he was going to see if they could get the truck back to Joplin for me. That would save me about 1300 miles. Not holding my breath! The Joplin shop must have gotten a talking too from corporate. They called twice yesterday reassuring me they are trying to get logistics worked out. 1999 Volvo VNL610, Cummins M11 - 350/400 HP, 10 speed Rockwell - 'CHIEF' Custom flatbed with TrailerSaver air hitch. 3 cyl 8000 watt Kubota diesel generator. They have 9 locations in a 4 state area. Quote from their website: We will take care of your needs with a level of professionalism rarely seen in the trucking industry. In addition to working on brands we sell - Mack, Volvo, and International, we can take care of your service needs no matter what make or model. CHIEFWAHO
Just received a call this afternoon from the Joplin shop that my truck is in Joplin. They never did call and let me know for sure they were picking it up. Last I heard from them (Friday & Monday) is that they were trying to make arrangements. Chattanooga shop calls yesterday afternoon and said the Joplin was coming to pickup the truck. I said I knew they were trying make it happen but had not heard from them, but if they showed they had permission to release truck to them. They said a Joplin guy called and informed them that he missed his flight and would not be in until after they closed. Chattanooga wanted to know if it was okay to take truck to the local Volvo dealer that was open later. I said if works for the guy from Joplin it would be fine. Is it just me? I feel it should be the Joplin shops duty to keep me informed. As far as I'm concerned they are a bunch of incompetent morons! Not going to be real pleasant situation when I go to pick up the truck from them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1999 Volvo VNL610, Cummins M11 - 350/400 HP, 10 speed Rockwell - 'CHIEF' Custom flatbed with TrailerSaver air hitch. 3 cyl 8000 watt Kubota diesel generator. CHIEFWAHO
How much did it have when dropped off at the other shop? If I recall correctly well over half. Really thought they would have at-least recovered the truck on their fuel not mine! Felt it should have been full when I picked it up as a gesture towards all the other out of pocket expenses incurred due to their incompetence. 1999 Volvo VNL610, Cummins M11 - 350/400 HP, 10 speed Rockwell - 'CHIEF' Custom flatbed with TrailerSaver air hitch. 3 cyl 8000 watt Kubota diesel generator. Ronbo
Maybe they needed fuel in their vehicle and since they were repairing your vehicle out of their pocket they needed to recoup costs someplace.
