Riding Glamis dunes

It's been sometime since I posted on the HDT site but hope there is still those with great information. I will be traveling to the Glamis Dunes for the first time from the Seattle area. I am looking for recommendations on travel routes, a place to stay and time of year to go. I have a Volvo 610 and 42' Voltage toyhouse which makes me 63' total. I have read about the Beach Store area and the dry camping is okay with me but I'm sure there are other locations. I don't want to take the rig into the sand so the hard pack area looked good.

I've been there twice and prefer the Gecko Road camping areas. As long as you are smart enough to keep the drive wheels out of the deep sand, there is no fear of getting stuck and the riding is fantastic. I like to go in late February or early March as the temperatures are just about perfect during the day - high 70's to low 80's. Unless you like very large crowds - but lots of cool "toys" to see - stay away from holiday weekends. Otherwise, weekends have a good crowd and mid-week you have some, but not much, company. I hope you have a great trip and report back!

Haven't been to Glamis since the late 1960's. We were the only Sand Buggies out there (VW & Corvair) until we jumped a ridge into camera view of a Pepsi Commercial filming. We had to laugh because of how excited they got because we left tracks across thier prestine dune. We watched as they scrambled to set the Models up on another dune. Good times.
