Setting Up New Computer

No I didn't see that thread. Other than the start-up disk(I have never needed one in 30 years) everything else should be computer indpendent. I have on auto backups so they are relatively recent, restore points are automatic, never saw a need to partition a hard disk(I get a large disk for a reason) and I keep my stuff generally cleaned up so not too much junk. We have two different methods of maintaining our computers.

I think RV did a comprehensive write up a few months ago. Have you searched back through the posts?

Thanks DJW. That wasn't exactly the thread I was remembering but it had some great info in it. It did, however, then lead me to the thread I was looking for which was titled Basics of Backup.....Starting Fresh http://www.rvnetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=106216. And there was a another good thread beyond those two as well. RV does publish a lot of good stuff!

If you find an old topic like that helpful add a post to it saying so, inactive topics (no new posts) get tossed by the forum software at some point so we need to make an effort to keep the good stuff active.

Sell a customer a Windows computer and you'll eat for a lifetime.

Or they can be suggested to be pinned topics, under a pinned folder at the top of each forum. I would not presume to suggest my own, but some of them are pretty thorough and easy, when read, to implement.

Thanks Boonedocks. You too Rif and Dennis.
