  1. RE due diligence; i researched as much as i could. When i bought the toyhauler there was not much to choose from. There were no Fullhouse owners on this or any forum i could find. There were many DRV owners that seemed pleased with their trailers. Factory tour? The factory tour i took was when i was in the area getting the failed front jacks replaced under a "goodwill" warranty. I did learn why none of the trim pieces were cut square because the skilled worker was cutting them freehand with sissors! The bones of the DRV trailers are well built and thought out but the workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. (i could give u a list as long as your arm but this post would be percieved as DRV bashing and it is not) I bought the only Fullhouse within 1000 miles sight unseen based on what info i had. I must however say that i do not regret the purchase because it was the "best in class" at the time. The MoRide suspention was touted as the best thing since sliced bread and came with a premium price. All well and good till you are stuck in an rv park for a week waiting for new rubber blocks to replace the broken set. Nobody around who knew anything about this system so i was left to do the repair myself. Justified premium price?......certainly not at the time!! The last paragraph of your post is unquantifiable so i will not attempt an answer.
  2. I kinda had to giggle at the comment about....you get what you pay for! I paid big dollars for my high priced toyhauler and had big warranty claims, about $10,000 till i ran out of warranty and a couple thousand since! Most all RVs built in the mid west use the same piece-workers who seem to take no pride in their work since they do not have to deal with buyers in their daily lives.
  3. haha! it appears karma has turned around to bite him! I am sure all his former employees are high five-ing each other.
  4. I am sure that it is possible to transport an ATV vertical as long as you allow it to sit on all four for a while to allow the oil to drain back to normal before you restart. On the back of an HDT i would have no worries but on the rear of a 5er i believe it borders on insane! My toyhauler was designed to carry extra weight behind the axles but i have found that the more weight i put in the garage the more the handeling is affected. A "normal" 5er is designed to have a certain weight on the pin with a balanced loading of cargo. The 5er in the pic is probably over the cargo carrying capacity! I do not know what the ATV weighs in the pic but i do know that it will remove weight off the pin and add it to the axles. I know there is one person on this forum who can tell us exactly how much given the lengths and weights. All of this will add up to dangerous handeling! There are many utube videos of unballanced trailers crashing!
  5. I just got into this thread and wondered why there is no mention of a propane fired dryer. We had a natural gas dryer for years and it worked great. Propane has similar available btu's as natural gas and every rv has propane.
  6. I put toppers on 3 of 4 slides. We spend the month of March in a park in the Texas hillcountry under some giant Live Oak trees. These trees will drop leaves for the whole month and the slides accumulate leaves to a depth of 4-6 inches so i had to climb up to sweep them out! With the toppers i no longer have to worry about that. (the 4th slide was too small to accomidate a topper) The downside to toppers is that if the wind is strong and in the right direction the toppers will flap in the breeze but there are fixes for that if it annoys you! In all the pros outweigh the cons.
  7. Yesterday we were locked in our sticks and bricks due to blizzard with 75 km winds. This morning temps dropped to -30C so if your temps are above freezing be happy!
  8. I once saw an interesting rig in an RV park in Texas a few years ago. It was home built living quarters on what looked like a car hauler trailer. The living quarters used about 2/3 of the front and the back 1/3 was used as a patio area. If you found a longer carhauler type of trailer you could build on the front and winch your utility trailer on the back portion. I am wondering how much work it would be to detatch and re-attach two separate trailers.
  9. What i really, really want is to be 10 years younger but i will settle for a pair of socks!
  10. Good report! Right now i am shovelling my way through our first snow storm. I am looking forward to my chit chat with the border guards mid Dec. Hope they are still in a good mood then!
  11. She did the easy part....what i want to know is who broke the bead for her!!!
  12. As i thought about this topic i wondered if the worst, was the time i spent a week in a motel in Wilcox AZ with my wife and 2 dogs while the turbocharger on my MH was replaced. Or was it the time i spent 5 days in Liberal KS waiting for parts for my broken Moryde IS suspension. The rv park there was really nice but the worst part was when the police came to put us on evacuation alert due to the wild grass fire quickly aproaching. The silver lining of that cloud was if the fire did sweep through i would not have had to fix the suspension! But i do think the worst time was when i fell out backwards from the top step of the rv during a quick pit stop on a travel day. I laid in the rain for about 20 min while i waited for the ambulance because i could not move on my own. At the hospital they x-rayed me and found 2 broken ribs. With the great drugs they gave me i was able to drive the rig 30 mi to an rv park in York Nebraska where i spent a week until i was able to drive with only a handfull of Tylenol! Once home i had a ct scan where they found in addition to the ribs, i had also broken two bones on my spine! You know, they say "stuff happens for a reason" but i am wondering what that reason is!!!
  13. We had a very hot and dry summer. It was hot enough to break records. The chicken littles were running around chanting "see that is proof that the planet is warming"...... but wait....in order to break records do you not have to have records? Some of said records were from 1890 and up to 1920. That is long before cars and crowded freeways. Next thing i think the true believers are giong to want is to change the tilt of the earth to moderate "climate change"!
  14. I know that "global warming" and "climate change" is real because where i live right now was covered in ice one kilometer deep and it began melting about 25,000 years ago! Was it caused by human activity? Absolutly not! Is the "climate change" today caused by human activity? Absolutly not! One volcanic eruption can put out more greenhouse gas than all mankind has. Is taxing people for their "carbon footprint" going to control the weather? Absolutly not, but it is a great way to add money to the coffers of world governments. As the naysayers get shouted down and the true believers rise to the top, Mother Nature will do what she has been doing since time began!
  15. Wow! Something is odd! I use the "unread content" button and this thread has not come up since Sept 25 so i thought the thread was dead! Thanks all for your thoughts and recomendations. I think i can wait until i visit some of the giant truck plazas that seem to have stock of the higher end custom seats. Something i will also look into is "restuffing" my existing seats. Those seats are almost 20 years old and i am sure the new types of foam will be more comfortable, not to mention a few thousand dollars cheaper!
