billr
Not done it but we see many towed behind MHs all the time. They are year range 2008 to 2015. There should be some MH folks that do so here for details. rdickinson
16's you can. 17's absolutely not. There is a 2017 at Three Pont Motors in Victoria that was towed behind some guys RV. Transmission was destroyed. They've put 2 new transmissions in but have not been able to get it to talk to the rest of the car. TPM bought it back from the customer, he went elsewhere and bought something he could to 4 down.
wtgeodog
We tow our 2008 Smart 4 down. We have done this for 3 years with no problems. There is a 2017 at Garcia Motors in Albuquerque with a destroyed transmission also. David Dixon (NukeE) posted instructions on rvnerds on wireing the lights for towing. Nuke-E
Yep--the 451 (2008-2015) is pretty easy to flat tow. Here's the link on wiring: http://rvnerds.com/2016/06/20/wiring-a-us-spec-smart-fortwo-451-for-flat-towing/ There are some accounts of people messing with bungee cords to stop steering wheel shake, but towing it flat isn't really any different than coasting. To be sure there wasn't a problem, my mother has watched theirs with an iPad sitting in the front seat of the car--no shake. Getting the car ready to go is as simple as key on, shift to neutral (and make sure the display shows "N"), key off; and it's recommended that you wait for the display to shut off before leaving it. 45' 2004 Showhauler -- VNL300, ISX, FreedomLine -- RVnerds.com -- where I've started to write about what I'm up to Headlight and Fog Light Upgrades http://deepspacelighting.com
