Feedback for Amazon, Haslet, TX

Good day.

May I trouble those who worked 2015 Peak Season at Amazon in Haslet, TX for feedback? In addition to general thoughts about the work environment, please tell me about how far away is/are the RV parks, and if there is shuttle service from any of them.

If you previously worked at Campbellsville or Coffeyville, how would you compare Haslet?

Thank you.

Regards,

Last year I think I read that is was popular with returning Amazon folks (I think from other locations since this was their first year). So popular that they were full with returning employees before they could hire anyone new to Amazon. Guess you do not walk as much due to the robotics (and then do not loose the weight you do at other locations).

We worked at Haslet this past peak season. Overall we felt the experience was good. The work is physical as they note when you apply.

We stayed at the Texas Star RV Park in Briar, TX which is a 30 to 35 minure ride to the plant. Most of the campgrounds where between 20 and 30 minutes away. The facilities at ours were good with flat gravel spots, good water and electric. The owners are upgrading the WiFi for next year.

Supposedly there will be a new 250 spot campground ready for next year near Texas Motor Speedway which is 10 minutes from the plant but when we left at the end of December nothing had been started there yet so this is not a sure thing yet.

At first the work environment towards the Camperforce in Haslet was not great as they hwd never worked us before in Haslet but by the end of Peak they were singing our praises and embraced our work ethic. The Camperforce had a 92% attendance rate out of 244 camperforce associates with 221 associates with perfect attendance.

We did so well that they are looking to increase our numbers up to 800 or more for next peak.

We will be returning for next peak....

We were at Murfreesboro but here is a blog from a Haslet, TX Amazon camperforce worker. http://www.interstellarorchard.com/2016/01/02/haslet-camperforce-review/

John, I'd like to hear more about Murfreesboro. My wife and I did 3 years at Campbellsville but the FC in Murfreesboro would be considerably more handy for us... not to mention that we wouldn't have to deal with KY taxes. We weren't able to go back this past season due to a little accident I had breaking a leg. It's finally healing but it's been a long and slow recovery.

I had heard that there were campground issues and that there really weren't any close to the FC. Has any of that been resolved? Are there some campgrounds that are closer now?

Any comments on the merchandise handled? I've heard that Campbellsville is almost exclusively clothing at this point, and it was always a pain dealing with clothing when we had it before.

The really big thing that we liked about Campbellsville was Heartland Campground, right across the street from Amazon. Being able to walk to work was something that was a really big draw to us.

Definitely interested in any tidbits you'd care to share, either openly or by PM.

Thanks!

Teri,

Depending on the campground you are at, the shift you are on there may always be carpooling available to you with fellow camperforce associates. Amazon does not provide shuttle service from the campgrounds. If the new campground opens in Haslet it will be about a 10 min commute.

We chose Haslet as there is no state income tax in Texas which is the same for Tennessee.

We worked there last year and are planning on going back again this year. We stayed at McClain's KOA on the north side of Denton. It was about a 35 min commute that all but the last mile was interstate. There were some parks closer to Haslet but you were packed in there like sardines.

We carpooled with another couple so helped with fuel costs. There was no shuttle service.

There is talk of another park being built near the speedway that will be much closer and we are waiting to see. We have made our reservations at the KOA again for this year though.

Working for Amazon was fun. We enjoyed the work and the people we met.

I have been following a couple that has done amazon for three seasons. I think in 2014 season they were ask if they wanted to move to louisville KY to do work, which was unexpected. They were parked at the fairgrounds and did have a shuttle bus amazon provided along with the campsite.. It was a like 45 min one way drive so the shuttle was nice from what they were saying. I believe i remember the water being off as the place was winterized and a water and honey wagon came around to service as needed.. (they were separate trucks,, :) you can read about it here http://rikerrvdays.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2014-11-17T04:13:00-05:00&max-results=7&reverse-paginate=true

if you go to jan blogs they try to give a recap of money issues.. how many hrs, how much made etc.. its real helpful for sure.

good luck.

If you are going to work at Haslet would you recommend making reservations now? I have no idea if I will get my first choice or start date quite yet.

I assume there is a list of parks that Amazon pays for or are you given a price range and make your own choice?

Good afternoon, Carl and Teri.

Carl, my wife worked for Amazon in 2014 starting at Campbellsville, KY. She, too, was asked (monetarily encouraged...) about half way through the season to work at the Jeffersonville, Indiana fulfillment center. She agreed, but rather than staying at the fairgrounds in Louisville she elected to park at the KOA in Clarksville, IN, a short distance from the center. Amazon paid for that as well. Jeffersonville is no longer included in the distribution centers that have a Camperforce Program; only Campbellsville, KY, Murfreesboro, TN, and Haslet, TX near Fort Worth, TX.

Teri, although we have received acceptance for this year's peak season, we have yet to see the Amazon provided list of campgrounds for which they will pay during one's employment period. Unless there has been a policy change, I'm unaware of Amazon allowing a personal choice for parking your RV at places other than those approved by them. I guess what that boils down to is you'll have to wait for them to advise before you can make reservations. We, wife and self, have both worked at Campbellsville (her for several seasons, and me twice), and at a now closed center in Coffeyville, KS. We have never had a problem staying at our first choice of campground. Don't hesitate to read the previously suggested website, http://www.interstellarorchard.com/2016/01/02/haslet-camperforce-review/. It's loaded with some great information.

Hope this helps.

I just received a list at Haslet.

Are there any recommendations? I am looking for one with a bath house since I have a small Class B. Only need electric and would use a dump station.

Frontier RV, Boyd RV, Ranch of Rhone, Shady Lake RV, Texas Star, Alta Vista, Oak Hill and Post Oak are the options.
