Camperforce 2016, who's in?

Recommended Posts

My wife and I have been accepted for the Campbellsville, KY location. This is our kickoff to full time RVing. We've made a reservation at Green River Lake State Park, but hoping to get in at Heartland (first come first served). Don't have a start date yet!

Anyone else here doing Camperforce this season? Anyone at the Campbellsville location? Would be great to meet some folks, we are eager to glean as much knowledge from those more experienced (basically everyone, ha) and make some new friends.

Hi A.K.-

My wife and I are going to be working in Campbellsville as well. We plan to arrive around mid-Oct. It would be great to meet up and share the Amazon "experience" together. LOL

This will be are third "Peak" we did TUL1 otherwise known as Coffeyville, KS two years ago and BNA3, Murfreesboro TN last season, we're returning there. When you say you don't have a start date, when did you state you would be available to start?

Campbellsville has been doing the Camperforce the longest and should have on the ball HR.

Generally speaking your job offer depends on your drug test and if you gave a date when you could start you'll receive a request for your then present location, how long you will be there and if you plan to relocate within the next few weeks when and where.

Our availability date is Oct 1 and we are volunteer workcamping through Labor Day in NJ. I expect we will receive location request in early-mid August and receive a email scrip for drug test at a nearby national lab to give our samples. The scrip is only good for three days so if you only check your email once a week?

I suggest a little, no a lot of exercise and walking in the month before your anticipated start date and if you are going to be pickers get good walking shoes at least a 1/2 size larger than normal.

The best thing about "Peak" is you know it's got an end and depending on the staff and crew it can be enjoyable then there's the $$$.

We let them know we're available anytime after August 15th. Thanks for the expected date on more info (early-mid August), we were wondering when we'd hear about a start date and drug testing. I'm good about checking my email (wife not so much, lol), I'll continue to keep an eye on things. Shoes! We intend on getting two pairs each. Thankfully we're young and fit, but will be sure not to go on a donut and bad movie binge before we head to KY.

CamperForce was my first work-camping job in the fall of 2012, I've been back every year since. :) I haven't done Campbellsville so have no specific information, but I wish you the best of luck.

John's advice about exercise is good. All of the sites do hiring and orientation a little differently but yeah, the drug testing needs to be done within 30 days of your start date and you'll get an e-mail about it. An exact start date is often given only about 2 weeks or so before they need you, but usually the HR team will send an e-mail about at some point in the summer about when they expect the season to kick off which gives you a general idea.

If you're looking for more information about CamperForce, I've written a lot about it in the four seasons I've worked for them. http://www.interstellarorchard.com/2012/06/26/about-amazons-camperforce/ is the article that links to everything I have on it.

Enjoy yourself, you'll meet some great people and make good friends among your fellow campers!

We are heading to TX this year. We were hired for that location but had to back out because of another commitment. This will be our first year for Amazon. A fellow Workamper will be in TX for her second year at TX and third Amazon overall. Should be interesting!

You got in in Texas? That's awesome as a first timer. We were told ALL the Texas slots were filled by returning folk.

Regarding TX, we were in the system because we were hired the year before and then had to turn it down. We were able to find out the first day that you could apply for this season and though we were traveling that day I applied for both of us by 8 am. If we did not get TX this year TN was our second choice. I think the secret is to apply early. We did last year too and I think that is how we got TX last year.

Ah! Yeah they said all the TX spots were full with the prehire for returning folks. No matter how early I applied, no way for me to get in over there. No biggie, we're excited about TN. I have family in Lexington and we are hoping to get a spot at the RV park right across the street from the fulfillment center. No reservations, just first come first serve. Fingers crossed!

I have been emailed asking me for start dates, preferred shift and type of job from what looks like a Texas location with Joni. But I have never seen exacting where I am hired for. I applied back in Dec or Jan for 2016.

Hop on the Amazon job website (http://amazon.force.com/) and sign in, under "my job applications" you can see where you've been placed.

Thanks

It lists all 3 sites in the top line for Camperforce but then the next line down it does says Fort Worth. So I guess I am at Haslet?

This will be my first year.

Teri

Teri, I think it should say Haslet, not Fort Worth. To the right of the Fort Worth line does it say "offer extended?"

That's great! You should have done a webinar and received an acknowledgement letter. I'm not sure the contact email for the Haslet location, but it should be at the bottom of your emails from them.
