Advice on Selling Equipment

Recommended Posts

We recently sold our motorhome and Jeep. I retained the baseplate, tow bar, brake buddy and all wiring etc., to sell. I was going to sell it as a lot rather than piece it out. I have a buyer who wants just the brake buddy and base plate. I am reluctant to break the lot apart but have never sold anything like this. Any advice would be appreciated. As it stands one could purchase this lot, install it and use it at a fraction of the cost of new.

Always a tough choice to bundle or piece it out. On the one hand, if the price is right it make sense that someone might buy the lot just to get a couple of pieces at less than retail ...on the other hand, if I were still fulltiming and needed just a baseplate and brakes, I would not want to be saddled with an extra tow bar. Guess it comes down to a personal choice ...do you take the bird in the hand, or hold out for a future bird in the bush that may or may not come along? I'm not much help, eh Phil?? :)

Such assistance, with its concise and definitive insights, makes this task clear as mud . Carol has enlightened me through her eBay sales friend that parting out is not bad. The lot might sit for months waiting for the new motorhome guy with his Jeep to be looking for my stuff. Parting it out adds flexibilty, so game on. Besides, who am I to dispute DW :)? Thank you for the suggestions Paul, always welcome :D
