docj Posted July 19, 2016 Report Share Posted July 19, 2016 About two hours ago a construction crane from the new Tappan Zee project fell onto the old bridge blocking both lanes. Traffic is being detoured and the bridge may be closed until an engineering assessment of the damage can be done. Furthermore, just removing the crane will be difficult. A few weeks ago I was stuck on NJ Turnpike for 5 hours when a cable snapped on the Delaware Memorial Bridge!
