Travelforever
Ok, I know I have seen some comments on this subject but I can't seem to find them so I am asking the community. Does anyone have an RV painting company to recommend? I want to have my motorhome painted and I need some referrals. Thanks for the help. We are fulltimers so we can go anywhere but we would prefer the southwest or Florida! Thanks Jeff & Suz
RV_
http://bossierrvcollisionrepair.com/ I've seen their work and their state of the art paint mixing and booth are impressive. Their prices are not too high and for the quality, exceptional value. Big Greg
Mike's Custom Painting in Bremen, IN near Elkhart. http://www.mikescustompaintinginc.com/ We chose them in 2012 to paint our fifth wheel and since have also done two of our friends rigs. They have a designer so you see what your RV will look like before it's painted and use paint booths. Jack Mayer
I like Mike's and Precision. The work I have seen from them is consistent and good quality for the price. I'm not at all impressed with Phoenix. I have seen a number of rigs painted by them and the quality for the price was simply not there on THOSE rigs. JMO. Mariner
Mine was done at Precision Paint in Bremen over 5yrs. ago, and it still looks amazing. I've also seen the quality of paint work done at Alliance Coach in Wildwood, FL. and it was top notch. Another I can recommend is Creative Coach in Lakeland, FL. I had to have some hail damage taken care of there. Mainly the radius's(radii?) had to be replaced, along with the A/C shrouds, and they color matched the paint perfectly. Big Greg
I'd suggest talking to a few painters and get info on price, number of colors for that price, number of clear coats, design staff available, use of paint booths, slide sides painted in price, any body work included, how long to finish, paint A/C covers and vents, caulking quality, paint door edges, etc. Greg Greg & Judy Bahnmiller Class of 2007 2014 F350 2007 HitchHiker Champagne Both sold 2/19, settled in Foley, AL after 12 years on the road http://bahnmilleradventure.blogspot.com/
Mariner
Yeah, there's more to it than just painting the coach. How many colors? What design? Slides fully painted, includes the part that is hidden when slides are in? A/C shrouds painted to match? How many coats of clear? After all we went through it was definitely worth it. After 5yrs. people are still surprised that our Dutch Star is 15yrs. old. coachmac9
Just curious...and I realize that there are many, many things that affect the price but how much are we talking about when it comes to re-painting a 38-40 foot coach? Just a ballpark figure.
Big Greg
In 2012 our 37' was $8750 for 3 colors. A friend had his done, same model, earlier this year with 4 colors and it was about $11K. Dave O
In 2012 our 37' was $8750 for 3 colors. A friend had his done, same model, earlier this year with 4 colors and it was about $11K. Big Greg The prices you quoted were for a trailer and the op used the term 'coach' which would indicate a Motorhome. I quite honestly don't have a clue what kind of surface a Hitchhiker Champagne is. Has anyone identified the surfaces to be painted, either aluminum, fiberglass or gelcoated fiberglass? Probably a better question would be-is there any differences in paints or man hours or whatever is needed that would affect the costs? Big Greg
Our HitchHiker is fiberglass with a gel coat. Sherwin Williams automotive paint was used. The price was based on length so I doubt it would differ for a MH. To best answer your questions Dave O I suggest talking to the paint shop. Jack Mayer
A 40' coach with a good job on it is going to run in the $8-15K area. Why the wide range? It "just depends" on how much body work is done, how many coats of clear, the type of paint used, if slide walls are stripped to match, if window frames are painted, etc. Personally, for the quality I would want I'd be near the 15K mark......or maybe a little less. razorbackmark
not sure where your located but there is a place in Denver NC that specializes in refurbish/remodel RV's. I had a 5th wheel camper in there for water damage a couple years ago and they do fantastic work. saw some other rigs in their shop that they wer working on too. I was thinking about remodeling our 2004 terry quantum 5th wheel and found out if you ask if they can do it the answer is usually yes. decided to trade in for new 5th wheel last year instead but i would definitly take anything to them for work. SIBERNUT
I also am looking at Precision in Bremen, but I found out several things. Their work may be great, BUT. They and Millenium, Carrera painting and several others are apparently owned by Patrick industries, all seem to price the same (?). Their head guy Paul Conley just jumped ship and is going to run his own shop in the area. Expects to begin taking work in a week or so. Mike's has been good on communication and the price is better. I will be flying out to tour all the places on 8/23, I can give you my feedback after then if you want. Called a few outfits in FL, they tend to be quite a bit higher for my fiver. Shops in Elkhart have mentioned a winter discount, too. FYI I owned a body shop for 10 yrs, I know what good is & isn't, prep & final finish. I wanna see it all before I drop that kind of money. I'm going to see Mike's, Paul's new place, Precision and Pro Customs 2000 Volvo 635 A/S, N-14 Cummins"The Phoenix"'03 KA 38KSWB http://s918.photobucket.com/user/sibernut/library/?sort=6&page=1Furkids- Sibe's CH.
