  1. Yes we do and probably before they get a chance to talk to each other, lol.
  2. Honestly if I was ready to move to a toyhauler and shorten my truck I would have bought it. But, I still have the girls at home, which I love and we need the long deck to haul the 4 seat SXS. Our current setup works really well for us. I just couldn’t talk myself into replacing the old truck to basically do the same build again. He had replaced the front axle recently as it had the air ride front end. It was pretty quiet and smooth. I have never driven an ishift either. Have driven some of the older automated pacer transmissions and the Volvo was pretty smooth there as well. I am sure Jen and Jodi where very aligned in their thoughts 😉
  3. We are a small farming community and Volvo is not a real popular truck locally. If you don’t have a long hood you don’t have a truck. Don’t know much about it other than what I shared. I did drive it and it was super quiet and smooth but I drive a 2000 Kenworth. Probably not a great comparison. My wife liked it a lot.
  4. If this is not allowed please remove. This is a local truck from an owner operator family that came on some hard times. He was hanging onto this one but has made the decision to get out completely. He dropped the price substantially now. I went and looked and drive the truck but am not affiliated. If I was at a different time and building another truck I would have picked this up. He had service records and has logged most of the miles himself. Could make someone a nice truck. Just sharing if someone is looking. I do have a cell # for him if interested would share over PM. https://www.facebook.com/share/px3r68fT6jzZwqvp/?mibextid=79PoIi
  5. Thank you for all the suggestions. We booked at the Oasis. They were all similar prices but the 100’ pull through site will be nice. Looking forward to some warmer weather about now.
  6. Thank you for all the replies. Gives me some ideas.
  7. Thank you Chad. I will take a look. I was doing a general search and there were some pretty nice parks there but many of them did not allow children. Some days Jodi would think that is the perfect place for us to stay 😂
  8. I am going to take my girls to Vegas for a couple days for their mid winter break at the end of February. We will just be passing through so will be there for a couple days before we head down to Hoover Dam and Lake Meade recreation area where we have some property. We don’t normally stop in Vegas but my oldest daughter has some art galleries she want to see. So, any recommendations for Big Rig family friendly parks?
  9. Not only is Chad one of the most knowledgeable he is one of the most willing to share knowledge freely regardless of your ability to understand or execute. Absolutely a first class individual.

    Change oil?

Yes for sure. I do mine every year and make sure all the fluids are checked. I used to do my own but found a local shop that will do the fuel filter and fluid change as well as inspect the truck for about what I paid for oil. Makes it easy. Disposal of that much oil was the pain. Regardless I would make sure you have fresh oil and 2nd the analysis. I am a huge believer in those.
  11. I hope things fall into place for sure. With that said there will be lots of willing, maybe not so capable, hands at the WCR to help if needed 🙂. Rally projects are the best. Much funner than being home.
  12. Chad I saw the video last night. I am so grateful you are ok and that you were pulling with a rig that allowed some ability to control the situation once the situation took over. I also appreciate your willingness to share your story. I have been involved in transportation and training drivers for almost 25 years now. Had you not been paying attention, which is all to common on the roads today this could have ended much worse. I am sorry to hear about the trailer as it was a beautiful rig. I wish you the best with the insurance company and sorting those material things out. Again, so glad that you walked away unharmed.

    Volvo Dinette?

We got a quote to repair it and submitted to insurance and they totaled the rig due to water damage. We were never able to determine the source of the water but looked to be a washer leak prior to us owning the rig that was never disclosed and covered up pretty well. The delaminating continued to get worse until we just cut our losses and sold the rig fully disclosing the problems to the new owner. New owner was an rv tech that had the resources to tear it down and complete the repair. I think our quote on the repair was in the neighborhood of 35k. I was pretty said because as you said it was not a cheap rig and we very much figured it would be our last for a long time. I would recommend you call DRV and find the closest authorized repair center, different than service center, and take it to them for a full inspection. With it only being 4 years old there is a very good chance DRV will do something to make it right with repairs. They were very helpful with ours but it was old enough there was no obligation on their side to help our situation.
  14. Plus 1 on the superglide. They are bulky but make a huge difference in any stress with turning. Mine is in a megacab Ram. Keep an eye out for used ones. I picked mine up cheap.
