chuckbear
Well, it looks like he plans to cancel my service. Here is the email I just received. Buyer beware I guess. I would suggest the rest of you don't complain... Mobile Solutions 10:42 PM (23 minutes ago) So you want to cancel correct? That’s my understanding. 5 has to be added to the account every 30 days , you can not add 30 and think you get 6 months it does not work that way 5 dollars every 30 days has to be added from when account is due, directions come with every device , as I stated every 30 days when due date is up, if you want to complain about this without understanding and reading directions that I send with every device, I ll glady disconnect it and refund you right now the months you used. Please don’t email bashing me without understanding or reading directions , your welcome to go pay Verizon hundreds a month for 10gb data , not unlimited like I offer. Let me know by morning if I should kill your account and refund. I expect a apology from you before I move forward. Dutch_12078
Be aware that you cannot go by the expiration date that VZW lists for your device in figuring out when the months of included service will end. You can only add one month at a time, and the new month begins the moment you enter the new $5 card. It does not roll over from the previous expiration date like Tracfone service for instance. Travis adds the next card each month for the multi-month data included with your device order, so VZW does not know what the actual expiration date is, just what the current date is. At one time he was offering an additional 6 month's of service with a $5 premium ($35 total), but I don't know if that's still available. It would be the same setup though, with Travis adding the next month's service for each of the 6 month commitment. I don't know how automated his system is, but the last time I talked to him, he indicated he had nearly 5,000 $5/mo 3G customers, so I sure hope it's well automated! Dutch_12078
Dutch, That was all the explanation I was asking for but you can see the response i got. Chuck Oh, I agree Travis has way too short a fuse sometimes! I think he's really overwhelmed with the volume of orders he's receiving, especially for his newer unlimited 4G/LTE plans. He probably doesn't have much time to spend on the 3G plans that once paid for do not produce a monthly income like the faster plans. He did hire someone to help him, but I don't know how well that has worked out. I'm not making excuses for him, just trying to be realistic about his situation. Personally, I'm quite happy with both the 3G and 4G devices and services I've gotten from him, but I do agree he could do a lot better at communicating information to his customers. If there's a holdup in filling an order, just say so... Dick N
I now have experience with both Mobile Solutions and Dr. Wireless who offer the $5/month Unlimited 3G plans. Mobile Solutions flashed my JetPack and returned it expeditiously. However after just 6 weeks of satisfactory operation, it would not connect to the internet. No amount of manipulation would get it to connect. After all of the somewhat negative input, I elected to not pursue a solution with Mobile Solutions. Instead, I made a PayPal payment to Dr. wireless through their website to have my JetPack flashed by them for the Unlimited 3G service on October 25. In the interim, I have not had any response from Dr. Wireless. Phone calls, emails, or attempts to contact them via their website have proved fruitless. Others may draw their own conclusions, but as for me, I will go back to my tried and true Verizon account. Yes, much more expensive, but it has worked satisfactorily for many years and hope to continue for many more.
Dutch_12078
Our Mobile Solutions unlimited Verizon $5/mo 3G flashed 4620LE Jetpack is still working fine after about 6 months. The unlimited AT&T $69/mo 4G/LTE plan and Netgear Unite hotspot purchased from them is also working very well, going on 2 months now. We've suspended our $100/mo 20GB Verizon 4G/LTE plan until the end of the year while we continue to evaluate the reliability of the two unlimited services. If all continues to work well, I'll renew the suspension for another 3 months going into the new year. After that we'll decide whether to drop the high priced plan in favor of the other two. So far, we haven't been anywhere that AT&T and Verizon haven't worked for us, albeit some locations definitely would not have worked, or at least worked as well, without our MaxAmp RV system boosting the signal. Tom_M
If you check the Mobile Solutions website, you will notice that most of his devices include only 60 days of service. chuckbear
I just refilled my service since it was not refilled by Mobile Solutions. The $5.00 per month is now $10.00 per month. Had I not checked to see if the data had been refilled, it would have been canceled and the device would no longer work. Tom_M
I suspect the two might be related. As I stated previously, I paid via PayPal to DR. wireless and no response. No phone, email, or text. Even though we may be chasing the wind, I think I will try one of the eBay sellers that flash over the Internet. Has anyone tried that? Here's a response on RV.Net: https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29097126/gotomsg/29103827.cfm#29103827 OP here... Thought I'd better update. I tried calling and leaving messages with DRwireless, but got no replies for a few days, so I'm not sure if the numbers on his website are still correct. I finally sent him a message through his Ebay store, even though he didn't have a listing for a remote reflashing service. He did respond, and after several questions to each other he determined he could do it, but I would have to find some good internet speed for him to be able to remote flash it. This became a problem as the park we are in doesn't have good speed and even tethering from my phone was marginal. We also had a rough time finding time when we were both available and our messages being handled by Ebay were taking about an hour between each one. Once we did get a time to work together, I of course couldn't get much signal but after several text messages and walking me through it, and several retries, the Mi-fi got reflashed, and is now working again. I also got much better instructions on how to keep the Mi-fi healthy and also how to check the time remaining and how to refill it and some websites that work for $5 cards. All in all it was a little frustrating for communication, and the fact that on my end I was having difficulty getting a good connection for him to use, but for the $35 fee, and $5 monthly, I love having my device work again.
