Upsfella Posted August 23, 2016 Report Share Posted August 23, 2016 Hello all, I have been reading and studying posts on this site for some time. It is finally time for my first post. I have direct tv at home and I would like to also have it in my camper. Is it as simple as taking one of my boxes from home and getting a satellite dish or what is the procedure for getting it in my camper. My wife and I will be living in our camper for a couple months so we can get away from adult children as they are moving in with us for a few months while their house is being built. HamRad Posted August 23, 2016 Report Share Posted August 23, 2016 It is as simple as taking a box with you and getting a tripod and a dish with the appropriate LNB. You simply need to match what you have at home. If you plan to leave your S&B with a working box for your relatives to use then you may need to actually purchase another box so you will have something still at home and one you take with you. Of course you can have DTV simply add another box at home. We've been taking both our S&B's boxes with us when we hit the road. Have been doing it for years. And DTV knows that is what we do. So far they have not cared. We seldom have to contact them when on the road. They have always worked to help us fix what few problems we have had. Good luck. Biker56 Posted September 7, 2016 Report Share Posted September 7, 2016 For any DirecTV Receiver be it a Genie, HR, H or D by putting a Trav'ler SWM dish on the RV roof is easiest to use. Push one button it goes up and locks on the 99/101/103 satellites. When moving push one button and it is stowed. No need to find storage room to carry it or spend time out in the cold, rain, heat or dark to put it together and take apart. Or the time to find the satellites manually.
