Winegard G2+ carry out

Recommended Posts

With a roof mounted system, if you park under or close to trees to the south, SSW, you cannot get a signal. With a portable antenna, just move it from under the trees.

It all depends on how you define "will work".

the Winegard G2+ is a "dome" Sat dish, and like all domes, it will only work in SD not HD. a dome uses DTV sat 101 only. So it may work with your genie, but not for any HD use.

Go to the source, read this Winegard document on how to hookup a dome dish like the G2 for use in a SWM sys (page 5)

as far as the mounting. the whole advantage of a portable carry around dish like the G2 is being able to position it where it gets a clear view. so mounting it on a roof somewhat defeats its purpose. it is self supporting, intended to sit on the ground.

PS: DirecTv has announced they intend to kill sat 101 and end all SD service by 2019

According to the company website it DOES support HD reception. Which is one of the reasons we will soon be buying it

It supports HD with DishTV and Bell TV only. DirecTV is SD only. That is what is says on the website if you read it totally.

No dome dish, ground or roof support DirecTV HD programming.
