Weight of Class C

There should be a sticker on the driver's side door frame that lists the GVWR or somewhere near there. In the RV part there has to be another that lists all of the required weight ratings and the location of that does vary by make and model. Also, just what is on that sticker will depend upon the year built and if it is a RIVA member who built it as the requirements that they put out have changed slowly over the years. Usually these decals are on the inside of a cabinet door.

If it is a used RV the best thing is to take it for a test drive, go to a truck stop with a platform scale and weigh the RV. ~ $12

Previous owner(s) may have added stuff to the RV which changes the unloaded weight.

Not only that, but most RV manufacturers don't weigh each and every rig as it comes off the line, so the dry weight on the sticker is usually for a base model without any manufacturer-added options.

As TreyandSusan said, the best way to get the *real* dry weight of a rig is to get it weighed.

If you do this make sure to compare the individual axle weights to the axle rating sticker on the door.

I would also do this for a NEW unit. It seems as if some manufacturers don't realize that some people prefer to fill the fuel and water tanks and might even consider utilizing the refrigerator and supplied storage.

We only bought new rigs but we made getting our own scale weight part of the test drive process. We wanted to know the capacities of that particular rig. We actually had one dealer who added a mostly decorative cabinet after we signed to buy the rig. We took that cabinet back out as it was not worth its weight to us.
