Head Out - HOP
After a wonderful week of Escapade seminars, you will want to take a relaxing but fun-filled tour. Board a luxury coach with a fun, knowledgeable tour guide, enjoy the beautiful scenic roads of Vermont, and learn about the region’s rich history. Learn the quarrying and manufacturing processes at Rock of Ages, and browse the historic photos and exhibits. This guided tour will stop at an overlook of Smith Granite Quarry, which is approximately 600 feet deep and is believed to be the largest operating deep-hole, dimension granite quarry in the world. Sandblast your own stone souvenir and shop for granite gifts, jewelry, rocks and minerals at the gift shop. Lunch will be included at Sarducci’s in Montpelier, which is the number one restaurant in the city, serving Italian Mediterranean-style food with outstanding service in an informal setting. After lunch, stroll through the Cold Hollow Cider Mill Country Store and learn about pressing cider. The aroma in the mill comes from the legendary cider donuts, which were featured in Gourmet Magazine as one of the top four donuts in the country! On occasion, the evaporator will be fired up to make cider jelly. The bakery continually turns out delectable treats, such as apple pies, pumpkin rolls, turnovers, and the general store offers the famous pure Vermont maple syrup, as well as Vermont-made Cheddar cheeses. The last stop of the day will be a treat at Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory. Tour the factory and learn the history of how Jerry opened their first ice cream scoop shop in a renovated gas station.
