  1. We made it full-time in June of this year. Started in PA, and headed south stopping for a week at a time in NC, SC, Georgia, Florida (to transfer tags/registration, license and make it our domicile) then back to Northern GA (Hiawassee) where we are spending the winter. We are absolutely loving it so far and the feeling of freedom we have! Good luck to anyone still in transition and believe me, it is worth it! Hang in there!!
  2. Congrats Angie! Hope you make 2016! We've been out since June 24, 2016 and we are loving it. We're arriving in Hiawassee GA tomorrow for winter (being from PA, I need to see some snow yet). Already got a workamping job next summer in NH but we are truly enjoying the sights and the freedom! Good luck on the sale!
  3. Hey Gannet!....you're retiring the same day as me! We are already out of the house in the rv and loving it, but I have to work until 6/24 for it to be official! We've had a few kinks, but nothing major so far, and we are loving the relaxation already and the pace of the new life! I'm thinking this is going to be fun and and a real adventure! These next few weeks are going to be the longest of my 41 year working career! I'm sure the same for you as well!! Have fun and good luck!
  4. Thanks Maggie! From what I hear where we are going, we will still have some cooler temps and a little snow, but not like here in PA. We're staying in Hiawassee GA and Longridge. Since we're from PA, I really don't want to go somewhere that we never see snow. I still like it, just don't want it quite as cold with being in a camper. Take care and hope we meet up somewhere! Good luck to you!
  5. Congrats Maggie!.....we're right behind you. Had the house on the market for 2 months and just got a firm offer last week. Closing date of 5/19 which is much quicker than we anticipated. We will be moving into campground on 5/16 and will reside local until the end of June when I will be done working. Hubby is already retired. Can not wait! We will head to western PA for the summer because my parents are 90 and 88 and we just need to spend some quality time there for once and then headed to GA for winter. Hopefully workamping next summer! Excited to get started!!!
  6. Yahoo!!!! House went on the market today!!! Praying for a buyer quickly!!!
  7. Thanks Don and Hopeimakeit! ..... Don, you have a nice looking camper there! We have ours under cover here in PA as well, but are getting very antsy to get her out and start to load things for our permanent home. It won't be 80 days yet for sure. Hoping to start by early April if the weather cooperates. Take care and hope everything comes together for you all as well and you can get out quickly. Hopeimakeit.....yes....for us it's been about 5 years planning and you're right....it's coming down to the wire, but for all of us. Hopefully, it will be a reality soon. Take care and I wish the best for you too!
  8. Congrats HopeImakeit! I hope to be doing same around May or June. We're at the mercy of how quickly we can sell our house. We are putting the final touches on everything now, and realtor comes next Sunday (maybe Valentines Day will be good luck) to take pictures and list the following week. She is saying market in our area is good right now, for homes in our price range, so we are hoping to have some good news on this as quickly as possible. It seems hard to believe we're down to this final stage.....but very excited to get going! Take care all!
  9. Hi all.....it's been a while since I posted an update, and it looks like we're really getting more and more for 2016 which is great! We have decided to move the listing for our house up to mid February instead of April at the recommendation of our real estate agent. Our area is a little soft right now, and she feels the jump early might be to our advantage. I'm hoping she's right. My job is also questionable as to how long I will stay because our company is being bought out by another company and after 22 years of service, I'd like to get out before the deal goes down, so we're hoping the house sells quickly. We have downsized as far as we can go at this point without living out of boxes and still having something to stage the house with, but it really looks strange to see how much we've left go already, but at the same time it's a good and exciting feeling! If we sell quickly, we'd like to spend the summer close to my parents in Western PA who are in their late 80's this summer and then head to GA for the winter. After that, I'd like to get into some workamping for a few summers. Congrats to all of you who are posting lately and getting your rigs....it really is exciting knowing that 2016 is fast approaching and we'll all be on our way hopefully soon!
  10. Hi and Welcome Kaybee! We also have a golden retriever that will head out with us next year. You're in the same time frame as us too because] we're listing on March 17th. Thought maybe the luck of the Irish will help. Good luck in picking your unit and truck too. That was really fun when we were deciding. We got ours in October and chose the Ford 450 dually and a Grand Design Solitude for our camper. Can not wait! Take care and keep pushing the "stuff" out!
  11. Hi George and Ann Marie.......congrats on soon going FT 2016! Hard to believe in another month we're half way through this year, and I'm sure it will go very quickly for you. We're already organizing a huge yard sale for September to really downsize on the things we know we aren't taking or packing up. We have a family painting party organized for Memorial Day with about 15 people and want to get the entire inside painted, and a few other minor things and we'll be ready to list by March. It's actually starting to get scary now. Exciting but scary! Take care and wish you the best in your plans and let us know how you're progressing too!
  12. I agree Don.....I've been on another forum, and seems to have a lot more excitement about leaving in 2016. We're also prepping house for listing March 2016 already, and honestly it's hard to believe we're almost half way through 2015. It will come before we're ready! I'm excited about pulling out, and we're planning yard sale etc like you. Good luck with yours!
  13. Well welcome, and best wishes on your planning and arrival back into the states!
  14. Welcome Ruth and Wayne.....we're shooting for house on market in March 2016 and hopefully a fast sell. Would love to be out no later then June. It's really nice that you found your future home in great condition and sounds like you already have a plan in place. Alaska is an area that we'd love to hit sometime, (in the summer please) They say it's really beautiful country. Wish you the best in your planning and pass along any tips that might be making it easier for you....we could use some too!
  15. Hi Keith, we may be hitting the road around the same time. Ours will depend on how quickly we sell our house when we list it early next year. What missions were you with in Africa? It's great your daughter is following the same path. I know from hearing our own missionaries speak, it is both challenging and rewarding, but it's great that you could be used in that capacity. Take care and best wishes as you start to prepare. We're going to leave PA as our residence for a bit too, until we see how it will all go.
