OT: Need Farmers Help Again

Last year posted I was having problems with my Woods 1008 front loader on my Kubota B7800 Tractor. It uses a Husco 9210-B12 hydraulic valve. I tried to find parts to rebuild but it is a monoblock design and some of the wiper rings and o-rings seemed inaccessible when looking at the cut away diagram. I cleaned it up best I could and lubed it up and things were passable for awhile. Now it's really sticking and acting up. Called Kubota dealer they priced new valve at $1473 and did not have parts or suggestions how to repair. Googled other parts sources but apparently Husco only sells to dealers not individuals. Nothing on eBay. Saw where one guy substituted a Northern Tools two spool valve that was close to specs but not sure about that. Can anyone suggest where I could find this part or a suitable substitute? Or is it rebuilable ? Here is some info:

http://www.huscointl.com/wp-content/pdf/9210.pdf

On edit looking again at diagram o rings look to be accessible so may just have to go that route. Called Kubota again and they want $175 for rebuild kit when I told them it looked like it could be rebuilt. Still thinking best bet may be to replace but open to suggestions.

Most certainly the o-rings etc were installed during assembly. I would find a hydraulic shop and price a rebuild. Yellow pages.

Carl, either take it to a local independent hydraulic shop for a rebuild or if you are in the DIY mode contact Roger Zatcoff and see if they have a seal kit available, sometimes they have kits and sometimes they just match op the parts.

Thanks folks, I appreciate the help. Have found several other manufacturers of two spool loader valves but don't really have the knowledge as to what would work or not work. The replacements are $200 range compared to Kubotas $1400 price tag.

I remember a while back a poster had a bent shaft on a Lippert leveling system. It was suggestion that he find a competent hydraulic shop, which I seem to remember he did, and had it repaired at a much lower price than ordering a replacement from Lippert. The advantage was that he was able to get the new cylinder shaft in steel rather than aluminum as supplied by Lippert. So the new cylinder was cheaper and better.

Sounds like your in the same boat. A hydraulic shop should also be able to assist with a replacement suggestion. They know hydraulics and will know if what you are considering as a replacement will do the job you need it to do. A reasonable consulting fee should be offered for their knowledge and assistance though.

Carl, the suggestions to find a hydraulics shop are spot on. I'm sure there are several near you. Yup, google turned up two within a couple of miles from you, one right down the hill off Tuckalechee Pike.

Carl, isn't it amazing that the folks on this forum can pretty well cover the waterfront, as far as having knowledge and experience in just about everything.....and they are willing to share their expertise to help other forum members out. I continue to be impressed by the forum and the people who are associated with it...What an awesome group !! Be safe, Charlie.

Take it off, and bring it. I'll wager dinner we can have it fixed in less than an hour. What else were you gonna do this weekend?

There's a hydraulic repair less than two miles from my shop, and I have the counter man's cell phone number. I once had him make me a hose on Easter Sunday. I gave him a tip..............

Rick,

I know you would do that and I appreciate the offer but grandkids have us every weekend til we leave for National Rally. My 14 y.o. grandson made the elite soccer team in our home town for 14-15 year age group and my granddaughter also plays so every Saturday and Sunday afternoon is soccer. By the way what was the shop you googled on Tuckaleechee Pike? I can't seem to find it. I also found a schematic of my exact valve on line and an excellent step by step write up by a member on a Kubota website on attempting repair so gonna take it off and give it a try. Use the shop as a backup and if worse case always have a trash can nearby. I have your tips archived from the previous thread so will use them.

Carl,

Give Ken a call at RV's For Less on Kingston Pike. He found a good hydraulic shop to rebuild the jacks on our trailer. That shop mainly does farm and construction equipment and should be able to fix your valve easily.

There's a man on Youtube named Paul Short, in Newfoundland, that is a master jack-of-all-trades mechanic that might be able to help. He is a Kubota fanatic. You might reach out to him.

Again thanks for the help.

Rick,

Haven't tackled it yet. Been helping neighbor remove rock from his drainage ditch. Tomorrow or Weds.

Updates?

Ok Rick. Valve off and heading to shop this afternoon. Took a look and it might be above my pay grade to tear apart. Replacement $1400 so will let pros do it.

BTW when I hook this back up do I have to bleed any air out of the system or will it just circulate into pump reservoir?

No need to bleed the system, but go slowly as air is compressible and can cause things to move in a jerky fashion, or suddenly fall. Cycle the system several times gently and you'll be fine.

It should self bleed.

Thank you.

  • 4 weeks later...

Follow up: valve rebuilt at cost of $400 (cheaper than $1400 for new, damn Kubota parts). Reinstalled and working well. Thanks to everyone for the help.
