Any experience with Forest River Riverstone 5vr?

Recommended Posts

Hello-

I'm new to this forum, though I've lurked on and off for awhile. My DH and I are in the research phase, looking to join the fulltime class of 2018. We just returned from the Pomona RV show, and after much research, we've narrowed our short list down to Augusta Luxe (with new 9K axles for better CCC), and the Riverstone Legacy. I love the New Horizons Summit as well, but it's a bit beyond what I'd like to pay.

I can't seem to find much on the FROG forums or other rv forums on experiences with the Riverstone; they are a fairly new unit for Forest River; they are looking to compete with DRV Mobile Suites. We looked at Mobile Suites, but I don't like the aesthetics of the unit- too traditional; and I really don't like that they are now owned by Thor. We are considering a used Mobile or Elite suites-I know it's better from a depreciation standpoint, but I'd also like to get everything I want, with new tech and looks, which I know won't happen with a used unit.

My question is- does anyone have experience fulltiming with the Riverstones? they do seem to have the best value and quality for the money that I've seen in the mid-high end range for 5vrs.

thanks!

We got a River Stone Legacy this past July and are very happy with it, we have been in it all but around 15 days so far and the only issue we had was a slide seal not staying in place, I noticed it while still in the area of the factory and called the plant foreman ( On a Sat. ) he said meet him at the factory and it will be taken care of. On his day off he met us and replaced it then checked the other slides to be sure and even replaced the other side just to be sure. No they are not the best unit you can buy but for the money and what you get it was a good next step for us,

We used to have a Cedar Creek and were treated very well at the factory with service and River Stone has a lot of employees from Cedar Creek and the welcome there was just as good, any more help feel free to ask, good luck on your search also the Luxe is a very nice unit that was also in our sights.

Welcome to the forum lizobiker.

I just looked at their website http://www.forestriverinc.com/product-details.aspx?LineID=335&ModelID=2858#Main gallery and love the floorplan for the 38RE. Lots of seating for football games LOL and nice big kitchen island counter.

We started fulltiming in 2001 and have seen a lot of fivers. It depends on your pocketbook and how you travel. Your first couple of years will be a lot different then your later years as you work out all the kinks and figure out your routine. When the powder rooms came out in motorhomes I thought what a waste of space but now that we have been on the road awhile a powder room would be nice as we wake up at different times and getting dressed in the morning away from the bedroom would be a nice feature for the one who sleeps in. ;) Also if you have friends or family visiting a lot its nice to have the powder room instead of them going through the bedroom. You can just close the pocket door to the bedroom. And for those that don't share well or have different standards "his and hers" bathrooms are nice.:rolleyes: The other option for that space is a HUGE pantry great for storage. Lastly if one or the other is ill the extra facilitys are a great convenience. A calling card we received from a fellow rv'er had the quote "Drinks 6, feeds 4 and sleeps 2"

Another place to ask owners about their rv is the owners group website: http://www.forestriverforums.com/forums/f71/new-river-stone-94299.html

Sometimes they let potential owners participate or even just looking at their comments may be helpful. I couldn't find one quickly for the Luxe.

The Luxe https://augusta-rv.com/luxe/ floorplans are similar to many on the market so it would be the cost, features and benefits comparison.

Good luck with your search, the internet is a great place to start and you will love your full time adventure

We currently have a Cedar Creek 40' 5er. Live in it full time. Have had very few issues and Forest River addressed them quickly and professionally. Just like any machine, regular maintenance is necessary. And, I never move the rig without checking tire pressure. Happy travels

We are in a 39RKFB! Love it.

Have been full timing for 4 years... We had a Grand Design Solitude up until a few months ago. We loved it as well.

We needed more residential appliances and insulation. Our floor plan before was more bunk house and after 4 years we realized we needed more living and entertaining than sleeping quarters. The biggest factors for us were build quality, residential refrigerator, two toilets and a King bed! Will let you know how it goes but, so far we are in heaven!!!

Wife and I went back and forth between the 39RKFB and the 39FK - for over a year.  We also looked really hard at the DRV 44 Houston.

We finally settled on the 39FK, and placed the order two weeks ago.  We have a 2016 GDRV 313RLTS and are frankly disappointed in GDRV.  They were not considered when looking for the new one.
