Keep it in Colorado if you can. You will have to go thru emissions every year if licensed in Maricopa county, plus your insurance will go up if in Phoenix or Tucson.

Looking at areas between PHX & TUS as I can be based at either airport. I spent some time reading in on the emission issue. Thanks for bring that up. I can avoid the emission if I live in Pinal county.

OK....... here ya go with what I know from myself and friend.

This is under Policy 13.2.3 under heading 'Motorhome' Signed into effect May 1, 2004.

AZ REVISED STATUE.

28-101

28-1095

28-2097

28-4301

32-1172

41-2142

YOU MUST get a DOT Enforcement officer, my friend went to the Port of Entry on I-10 going into New Mexico. They have to do an inspection for you being in compliant with 4 out of these 6 items to convert semi to RV status I am told.

Toilet (porta-potty)

Kitchen (microwave)

Refrigerator

110 volt power supply

Separate heat and A/C unit (APU will work)

Water supply

Arizona title will show it was converted.

I hope this helps you......... I still think it is easier just to register in South Dakota as a non-commercial vehicle.

And there you (we) have it.

Now we need someone else to give it a shot.

BTW - the drawback to Private Truck (non-commercial truck) in South Dakota, is a Motor Home designation has benefit/s over Private Truck, for the owner - such as insurance, DL. and re-sale.

However, PT *registration* in SD is a piece of cake - even for a non resident.

*If* you want a SD DL - you will have to be a SD "resident" for one day (night).

Any of the SD mail forwarding services (like Americas Mailbox) can furnish more info,

Make SD your fall-back plan - "Plan B" - if something falls-through with AZ.

Be nice to hear of another successful AZ MH registration!..
