Boondocking in Idaho Falls/Yellowstone area

We're getting ready to take our 39' toy hauler with Class 8 conversion (semi) to the Idaho Falls/Yellowstone area. Our total length is 62 feet. Does anyone know of boondocking areas that will accommodate a rig this size OR even reasonable RV parks along the way.

Thanks for your time.

Valley View RV Park at the east end of Island Park, ID. on US 20 is reasonable for the area. Of course reasonable means different terms to different folks. The site I am in measures 38'x87'. there is some boondocking in the Island Park area. At the junction of US 20 and ID. 47 (scenic route) that goes toward Mesa Falls area about 1 to 2 miles on the right are a couple of huge boondock areas on the right. Any size rig. No signage, but there may be a couple of rigs parked there. Funny, we just went down to the Mesa Falls on Sunday and re-checked the boondock area since we had previously scoped it out in 2005. There were 3 rigs parked back further than you would want to go. If I can be of more help just PM me. Also in Idaho Falls there are two places that would work for one night only. The South Tourist Park on S. YellowstoneHywy. is on the Snake River. Free overnight, free dump and water available courtesy of the City of Idaho Falls. We use this the night before coming up to the Island Park and Yellowstone areas. Then there is the North Tourist Park at the junction N. Yellowstone Hywy (US 20), Anderson St., and Lincoln Rd. beside a golf course. We have never used this location but have been past many times. Both locations will handle your rig as we have a dually crew cab and 40' fiver.

There is a real nice, quiet campground called Buttermilk on the island park resavoir. It is just a few miles of highway 20 at Elk Creek. We have had our Volvo and 38' Mobile Suites in there several times. It is one if out favorite base camps in that area. This is a usfs campground.

We've stayed at the South Tourist Park a couple of times. The area is very large and away from traffic so is quiet.

We checked out the North Tourist Park when we were there and *we* would not stay there...and we were in a truck camper at the time. The area is fairly small and is right at the junction of two busy roads. While your rig would *fit,* there would be a lot of traffic noise. We have dogs and there was really no good place to walk them compared to the South Tourist Park.
