For folks from Canada there are a few new options for getting back home or down here by air that don't involve the main Phoenix airport and all the fun with traffic that involves.

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport will offer flights to Canada, its first international destination.

NewLeaf Travel Co. will have three weekly nonstop flights to Calgary, Alberta, beginning Jan. 19.
One weekly nonstop to Edmonton, Alberta, will also be available, starting Jan. 21.
These flights are the first at the airport by a carrier other than Allegiant Airlines, and the first U.S. flight for NewLeaf, which is part of Canada-based Flair Airlines.

We had a Family Get together just before thanksgiving and I made SURE to thank my brother-in-law who lives in B.C. for taking care of all of our "undesirables" who were wanting to move to Canada. He really didn't like it when another member of the family suggested that, "Yes! I agree! Sending all of those to Canada will probably raise the IQ level of both countries."

At which point my B-I-L suggested that that might be true if they were sent to Newfoundland. Apparently, for some reason the Newfies catch the brunt of the "Aggie Jokes".
